Best of Luck going forward Mr. Buschini, we will all be cheering for your continued success.
Once a Griz, Always a Griz.
And please remember that there were several walk-on Montana boys before you that enjoyed FCS (1-AA) success and NFL career success.

Hookedon wrote: He has had some tough times at UM and has struggled with depression at times. The fact that he is married now factors into this as well. He is now financially responsible for he and his wife and there were concerns about not having an opportunity at a full scholarship. That was a huge part of the decision. Finally there were concerns that he would not be allowed to train a lot with his kicking coach in the summer which he was worried would hold back some of his abilities. He just wants to do what is best for him and his family. He loves Griz Nation and doesn’t want anyone thinking less of him.

^ ^ ^ those are topics that Mr. Buschini could have/should have considered discussing with Coach Hauck. Good luck Brian.

This Twitter does nothing to make me think any more of him, just less. He leaves slamming the Coach and the lack of coaching he got at UM, and gives no thanks to being able to show his talents at UM thru 13 games? He is just one more self-absorbed punk.

I do not support or condone Brian's comments, but I can wish him good luck. These two things are not linked.

Amen. Not one person here knows what had transpired. What I do know is he flipped the field for us time and time again and I imagine he will be doing the same next fall for Nebraska.

Football players: screw up/get in trouble with the law. Forums: "I'm glad social media didn't exist when I was in college. The stuff I could've got in trouble for. He's just a good kid that mad a mistake. Ect"

Kicker: leaves school. In a moment of emotion posts a tweet he almost immediately deletes.
Forum: OMG you're horrible!

So if he's been offered a scholly at um, I would doubt it's a full. All FBS scholly's are full. Point FBS

Someone mentioned earlier about who he did or didn't thank. He has a tweet giving props to his long snapper.

And if you haven't seen it he has a tweet about how good the new kicker you signed is going to be. How he's better than he was at his age. And how he's going to do awesome things.

At first, I was more than frustrated. Even more so after the negative tweet about UM staff.
However, the only person who has to walk in Brian’s shoes is Brian. No one knows the path in life he wishes to follow but him. He doesn’t owe Griz Nation anything. His teammates who put in all the time and effort to be a great team might have a little right to be frustrated, but they should know the guy better than most as well and truly want what is best for Brian.
This social media, phone cameras etc so often have a negative impact on us all. Today’s youth just don’t get a chance to make mistakes on a small scale. Mistakes are put on a grand stage for all to see forever.
I am guessing Brian learned something in this process. He likely won’t make that mistake again.
So, best of luck Brian. I enjoyed the time you played so well for my favorite team. I respect the fact you had the courage to stay true to your own life’s path.

If I’ve known about this transfer for months, you really think Hauck had no idea? Seems very unlikely.

You seem like a very good poster, with good information, so please don’t take this as a criticism. Knowing the way Bobby is about all types of social media, it might be best for your son if you didn’t post very much.

Not sharing "State Secrets" here. Not even sharing inside the locker room banter. Never once have I said anything on here that would compromise this Griz team or gone against anything Hauck or company have said not to do. No, Hauck did not know. No, his assistants did not know. They have been talking about it openly for the last 2 days. Have you seen how upset Hauck is in his interviews? Yes, they did give him a scholarship and Brian's family has been talking about it for weeks now. The way this went down is bad and clearly breaking NCAA regs in doing so. Pretty selfish and some in the program are upset, rightfully so.
I'm not sure how to react to this. I was wowed by Brian all season long, but I am coming to believe it was all about him and never about the team. That troubles me greatly. And, if he left because he put himself ahead of the team, then I am glad he is gone.

Etcetera. Abbreviated 'etc.' I see you quoted someone, so you aren't the ignorant one. 'Ect' reminds me of someone puking.
For the rest of you: Which is correct ECT or etc?
The Latin term et cetera ("and the rest") is usually written as two words in Canadian English. However, the one-word spelling etcetera is also correct. The abbreviation for this term is etc. (Note that the c comes last; the misspelling ect. is a common error.)

Asking purely for clarification. Is it correct to include the period inside of the parenthesis bracket versus outside the bracket?

Grateful for his contributions during the season. It ends there. Running out of town with your middle finger in the air is absolutely classless and horse shit. IMO.

Coach nailed it. You don't want to be here? Bye Felicia! Don't send a post card!!! There are 40 kids behind you that DO want to be. Go Griz.......

I heard what Coach Hauck said (and agreed initially - UM is a great place - and it is a desirable football program) and I am really starting to wonder if that is a perfectly appropriate approach in these days 2021-2022. These are new times, and today's Griz players are not exactly the same as the past Griz players from the 2000's and 1990's. 8-)

There might be a time soon when coaches have to invest more time encouraging players to stay. For example, when I receive a new job offer I will likely discuss the pros-cons with people close to me before arriving at a final decision. I would hope that a star Griz football player who receives a new offer would discuss the pros-cons with people close to him, possibly to include their academic advisor and the Griz position coach / assistant coach. It is often best to approach these big life decisions in a methodical, logical manner that can deemphasize the emotional aspects. :geek:

Well said! :thumb:

The sports culture as well as the athletes has undergone a dynamic change in a short generational era. The issues raised by a ballooning portal, the growth of big time college football in terms of media exposure and the big money has created a super class club. Don’t believe that majority of fcs schools can ever think of competing for bandwidth with power 5 or even the group of 5.

The recent defections of two of our most talented is only one indication of the change. Got many strong economic and geographic headwinds to overcome here in treasure state. Comes down to the right combination of leadership and yup…..the cash to keep UM viable, not just football but as a flagship university. I keep hoping for a lot of both.

Don't know what you mean by "handled better by everybody"

PTGrizzly said:
He’s not the first player to want retroactive scholarship money, wouldn’t be the first to get it either.

Had this been handled better by everybody, and that includes Hauck, kid might still be here.

Plus I am not well informed about this "retroactive" scholarship money, so someone can enlighten me please ? Is there a way that Marc Mariani and Colt Anderson (as example) can get UM to write them a $$ check ??

BFD. Kid is a punter and easily replaced.

Griz shouldn't be punting anyway.
