Yes Pflug was up against 3rd and 4th stringers but he also had an offense of 3rd and 4th stringers to work work and he looked awesome. Took complete control of the offense, already shows he will take what tje defense gives him, and already showed he has those unteachable "eyes in the back of your head" as he dodged a blitz on his back side that not one of our other qbs could have gotten away from. This guy is gonna be incredible.

I agree. I have been on the Pflug bandwagon since I seen his HS tape. You can just tell the kid has the QB instincts that separate the average qb's from the great ones. I think he will make a HUGE push for the starting gig next year as a redshirt frosh, even with Gus returning as the previous starter.

Really?? I'd say the odds are stacked pretty heavily against him. He's got to improve his arm strength in a major way. Looks like a little kid out there.

I don't think having a big arm is a requirement to succeed in Stitts offense. Accuracy and making quick decisions is more of a requirement. Gus has picked up the O faster than any of the other QB's at this point but he's a bit of a statue back there. Im sure Stitt would prefer a guy who can make plays with his feet as well.

Gus had a pretty good spring camp and showed he has the potential to compete for the starting spot. That being said, everybody has the same amount of time over the summer to study up on the playbook and hit the weight room. It should make for an intense fall camp.

This here is another reason I like Stitt so much. He has deffenetly stated he perferes a mobile QB just cus of the added threat, but yet the entire spring he has started a pure pocket passer because he has grasped the O the fastest. Alot of coaches would try to force certain peices into place even if it dont fit. He's also said he would play a slower QB if he was better and he's living up to his word.

I don't understand why people on here have such a hard time accepting that Gus might actually be a good QB.

I have not watched one snap of Stitt's offense but I spent some time watching Oregon State running a healthy dose of fly sweep plays. Sean Mannion, was tall like BG, strong arm, and not real mobile. The Beavers did pretty good with that offense. Mannion was able to run a bit and I think it is an important option to have. You stretch the defense side to side and sometimes deep which opens running lanes. Mannion didn't run often but he would pick up some pretty good chunks of yardage when needed. More importantly maybe is that it slows the DL down a bit and punishes them if they get too deep too quickly. Hopefully BG will be able to run successfully at times.

People are wrong to assume Stitt prefers/wants/needs a mobile QB. What coach wouldn't? It's like asking a coach if he likes a QB with a strong arm. Duh.

A QB who is comfortable in the pocket and who can make accurate throws under pressure is the key. A QB who is quick to leave the pocket and scramble, essentially kills the play. Chalich comes to mind.

We'll see how comfortable and mobile Gus is as soon as he takes off his red jersey.. Big deference when playing in a controlled scrimmage with a red jersey on and playing in an actual game when the defenders are trying to take your head off..

Gus has shown more poise in the pocket and has evaded pressure better than any other QB...against the best defense he'll see all year. But yeah, what if, he might just fall apart after he takes a hit, there's always hope for you isn't there.. haha.

I wouldn't say we're the best defense he'll see all year. Our D isn't even allowed to hit him. NDSU's defense is going to be a tall order and they will by trying to put him in the dirt. But our D is a great one to practice against for him and our Oline.

This isn't a fly sweep offense. In fact, I don't think I saw a single sweep run on Saturday (someone correct me if I'm wrong). It's one single play in a hurry-up West Coast style offense.

I am not sure where I said it was a "fly sweep offense". OSU just ran the fly sweep fairly often. I suspect once the Griz get the timing down, they will run it too. The snap has to be perfectly timed as the back runs laterally across the field. What OSU didn't do is run much hurry-up. They were a conventional huddle type of pace. If you can do fast pace, dynamic read, and stretch the field (and do it well) it will be a tough thing to defend. It will take the Griz a while to get all the moving pieces in sync. The good news is that you don't have to do it all from day 1. I believe Stitt will layer on more stuff as the current plays start to become second nature.

This caught my eye earlier. Anyone else see it?

I see someone at Right DE that appears to be wearing the # 37.
And Crittdenten was wearing 47. Still. And it's not 87. Cuz if it is, Lider is a complete badass punter.

many are underestimating the athletic agility of gus,,,he is a multi sport athlete....he may even break some tackles on broken plays, he is much faster than shay or roper was with better feet, add his intelligence in the classroom 4.0 and it is really pretty easy fo see why stitt likes him for now.....would he like a 4,4/ 40 yd guy at qb, sure, what coach would not....
