Brady in the lead.

Calling him a JJ clone is insulting to Pflug

Pflug out of high school is already better than JJ was as a sophomore. Maybe he understands progressions and can read defenses better than other QBs we have on the roster.

Thats great for us next year...........

But hes redshirting

Wasn't it you that hyped JJ so much, calling him "game-changer", or something?

Playmaker

Yes,

Pflug is better than JJ right now and his ceiling is still being designed.............
That's high praise! Sure hope you're right.

Yes Pflug was up against 3rd and 4th stringers but he also had an offense of 3rd and 4th stringers to work work and he looked awesome. Took complete control of the offense, already shows he will take what tje defense gives him, and already showed he has those unteachable "eyes in the back of your head" as he dodged a blitz on his back side that not one of our other qbs could have gotten away from. This guy is gonna be incredible.

"Willy Pflug: 4-of-8-1 for 25 yards"

"Pflug appeared in just two scrimmages, completing 60 percent of his passes and throwing one interception."

He also threw an absolute perfect strike across the middle to a young receiver who stopped his route short in between 3 defenders tjst would have been complete for a 35 yd pick up. Going off what I witnessed and not just a small sample size stat line. You've obviously never played the game :)

Open your eyes and watch him...................
Well I'm a few states away and am kept pretty busy so "opening my eyes" is a little oversimplified explanation.

I'll trust Brint's writeups, since about every other report that I've seen pretty much mirrors the same message being that Gus has picked up the concept of the offense quicker than the rest of the QB's and has been throwing pretty well. It sounds like Prater can't quite figure out how to take a little heat off of his throws and is a little predetermined with where he throws the ball from scrimmage.

I like how you dodge facts and avoid tangible evidence or reasoning.

Well Brint was a great QB in high school band, so you keep on receiving his over cliche passes and I will continue to think for myself.

Why would you want Prater to take anything off the ball? This less time its in the air the less time a DB has to make a play on it. Maybe we need better WRs?
Oh I don't know....maybe because certain throws require a little bit of touch along with speed? I will agree that we need better WR's, we have some good ones but when Jamaal says that Prater's throws need to be better then I'll trust him as well. It's not just Brint, the WR's and obviously Stitt believe Gus has the apparent edge.

Either way, our 2015 recruiting class looks to be a step in the right direction personnel and talent-wise. I think we will have some solid WR's for years to come.

None of this matters until they can figure out who's going to block the other guys. Does it?

I was hopeful that Germer would be able to right the ship, but that's a big leap of faith right now. The receivers will get on the right page, but Brady, Prater, et.al, won't have an impact unless they get the time they need to make this timing-based O work. Maybe one or more of the big bodies inbound will be able to help, or perhaps a drop in.

Wonder what Brady would look like in NDSU's Offense? He and Wentz are basically carbons of one another physically. Looks like he can make the throws, hopefully he has the rest of it.

Barring injury or off-field issues, Gustafson will be the Griz QB for the next two years. His deep ball to Ellis that McKinley broke up was big time. To effortlessly make that throw into the wind with touch was incredible. Definitely a "did you just see that..." kind of play.

Time to get on board - 6’7, strong arm, smart, mobile, and pretty much stomped all over that “QB race” a few days into spring ball. Gus is going to have a couple of huge seasons, especially if Henderson is back in 2016.

I heard a rumor Prater may have two left feet? Can anyone else confirm this?

I agree. I have been on the Pflug bandwagon since I seen his HS tape. You can just tell the kid has the QB instincts that separate the average qb's from the great ones. I think he will make a HUGE push for the starting gig next year as a redshirt frosh, even with Gus returning as the previous starter.

A lot of people are saying WP has a ton of potential. But it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out he's red shirting with as many QB's that we've got to choose from. Bottom line tho is..trust Brint, he's got the best griz fan read on who's #1 right now. Either that, or Stitt doesn't know how to evaluate QB's. I'm taking a wild guess that he does! ;)

Or you could read Stitt's interviews where he says Brady is the number one quarterback with little mention of anyone else, but that a solid backup is needed. They've had the depth chart in the paper several times this spring...I don't think there is an trickery going on.

Really?? I'd say the odds are stacked pretty heavily against him. He's got to improve his arm strength in a major way. Looks like a little kid out there.

Despite the pass being incomplete, that was the defining pass that made me take more notice in his arm strength. Then the last TD pass to Henderson was also a great pass. That TD pass was well defended. Gustafson put the ball high and tight that only his WR had a chance for the ball. He did that play just as it is coached.

Granted, he still has to develop his ability to scan the field better and cut back on locking onto WR's, but that is common for QB's with no game experience.

As for Pflug, count me in as someone that was extremely impressed by his awareness and playmaking abilities from his HS videos. He has an awareness that is hard to coach. He only has to get a stronger arm, which he will do with training and repetition. Jordan Johnson's arm strength was not very good his 1st year as starter. He improved his arm strength a lot his last 2 years starting.

My guess is, Pflug will be a 3 year starter, just like JJ was. I hope Pflug gets to play under Stitt his whole career. JJ was his best under Pflugrad and his ceiling was so much higher in that offense. Pflug will be a great one!!!
