Bozeman State Bobcats scouting report

No good-for-nothing passes in the flat. No good-for-nothing Ngyuen runs up the gut. More short yardage passes like the Patriots do for 6, 7, 8 yards, 1st down. Brady has to lower his sights to hit those short passes. An occasional bomb is ok. Defense will do its thing and punish the MSU runners, receivers, and Prukop; the Griz D is brutal, knocks the spit out of offensive runners/receivers. It starts showing in the 4th quarter.

Griz win, 31-24.

Did you watch last week's games? At least 4 or 5 passes "in the flat" that went for 6,7,8'yard gains. And Nguyen rushed for over 100 with many plays coming between the tackle and the guard! Cmon man

Paying attention to the factual is only a requirement for you BW, the rest of us get to use our incomplete recollections. Cmon man.

I think Prukop is too hyped for this game and will overplay a lot of situations. Three pics are very possible and one could be for 6.
Griz D will frustrate the cats keeping their offensive output down. Griz 42 Cats 24.

“Those guys are marked. They’re marked. I’m looking forward to that game. It’s on my mind. Come Nov. 21 I’m going to be ready for that game, and I know our offense is going to be ready for that game.”

I love how he specifies that only one side of the ball will be ready.

Also looks like he's learned how to throw teammates under the bus from Papa Ron.

On a fourth-and-3 play from the Bengals’ 40-yard line, the Bobcats elected to go for it. But Chad Newell was stopped for no gain. Left tackle John Weidenaar missed an assignment on the play, and Prukop reacted in a way he never had.

Prukop and Weidenaar engaged in what looked like an epic shouting match, going facemask to facemask until they were finally separated by offensive line coach Jason Eck near the sideline.

Saw that play on DVR. Weidenaar had his left edge sealed on a read option. DP handed it off to Newell for no gain to the right. Weidenaar turns and yells at DP and motions to keep it and run it over here where the block was sealed. DP flips his marbles, jumps into Weidenaars face. Weidenaar grabs DP by shoulders pads and they almost go to blows. good stuff.

And then on one of the next possessions when Dakota runs in for a touchdown Big John was the first one there to give him a big hug.

That only shows that both are competitors! :coffee:

If that never happened to you, it only confirms that you've never played the game.

As an aside regarding Prukop being too amped for the game... Cramsey said yesterday, "if he gets to up, I get him tackled and that gets him back into the right frame of mind." Or something close to that. :D

It's funny how you Cats fans assume so much. maybe I thought it was pretty cool maybe I kind of like the fire that both of them showed and the intensity maybe I looked at it like they were brothers

I wasn't assuming anything, just doing my best Paul Harvey impersonation

Yeah the face off between Prukop and his lineman was pretty short lived and really doesn't mean a damn thing. Sports can get intense and these were two competitors just getting worked up. Doesn't seem like a big deal at all. I'm sure things like this have happened in the Griz sideline and in their locker room as well from time to time.

I am more than certain there are a number of Griz on defense that would be more than happen to help Cramsey out. It will likely be a lot more intense than Cramsey intended though.

The difference this game is that those passes went to Roberts rather than Naccarato.

I recall a Griz scrimmage a few years ago where two of our guys were taking swings at each other after a play. They finished the scrimmage running the east side bleachers...

Like always Brint, good job on your summary. The one change I'd make to your report is in the safety position. Bryson McCabe is who to watch out for there - especially in the run game. He is an exponentially better tackler than Des Carter is and his return the past couple games has made a significant impact on limiting big run plays. Not saying run defense is good with him in there or the big plays were stopped, but plays that were going for TD's starting being 15 yard gains upon his return to the lineup - giving the Cats at least another opportunity to slow down an offense. I think he is the #1 difference maker between the defense being terrible and being mediocre. Keeping in mind a mediocre defense has been all the Cats would have really needed to be in the mix for fighting for a seed right now and not just fighting for a winning season.

McCabe missed the ISU game but I read the other day that he's practicing. When I wrote the report I didn't know if he'd go or not so I just left him out. However you're right, he's not a bad player.
