It's cause the dad is most likely a pretentious jerkwad from the O.C. who was born with a silver spoon up his rear, and is living vicariously through his kids. You're a little league coach, dude! Stop acting like the second coming of Casey Stengel.

I swear this is why people from Northern California hate their southern family. So pompous.

Yeah, that's probably it.

There's more to Orange County than Newport Beach, you know. Most people in HB are pretty much middle class.

Now, about the parents maybe living vicariously through the kids, I think that definitely happens...almost anywhere.

Just because you're middle class does not prevent one from giving off an air of superiority. I know Huntington Beach, and you are right, it's not Newport. But middle class OC is different than middle class most other places

Sure, but it probably precludes one from having a "silver spoon up his rear."

Sounds like you're the expert, and I just live here.

Didn't mean to stir up a Hornet's nest, literally, but I'm from California, thank you...and often am in the OC. So it's my opinion based on experience.

Is it the real Housewives? No. But in my opinion there is a certain air of smugness in MOST areas of Orange County, similar to that I thought the coach has displayed. I also think saying Huntington Beach is middle class is somewhat of a misnomer. Is it middle class for LA? Yes...the rest of the country might not associate that area in that manner.

I've went to Northern CA quite a bit in the last few years. Now I know that everyone there is vegan, liberal, and wants to teach sex ed in pre school. And they all want to ban circumcision. And they all live in old victorian row houses with their dead wife's brother and their childhood friend. Now they have to find a way to raise three daughters all alone; but guess what? They're not alone. Everywhere they look, there's a hand to hold onto.

First off, it's a message board, sorry to offend. I was more playing on the Norcal vs. Socal rivalry and show my support to the Montanans (?). Are people from Huntington Beach born with silver spoons up their asses? Lol, probably not. However, you can't argue that when compared to the rest of the country, the residents of that area are more likely to be well-to-do.

I did forget about that part! Thanks.

P.S. When the weather is so nice, a guy has to hydrate a lot more.

Very familiar with both Missoula and HB. You are wrong again about So. Cal. L.A. has some of the poorless slums in the country. OC is much nicer but the Oceanview section is far from middle class. It is know as a slum and is home to the Southside Mexican street gang. Put the Oceanview area in Missoula and it would be the worst neighborhood in the city. HB police have even put a substation in the area and have a gang unit on foot patrol 24/7.

Heh...roaring gay orgies. Visions of the "they took our jobs" skit on South Park are coming to mind. There are people rural America I've met that do believe this is how N. California is, StingersUp. There are people I met when I lived in N. California who believed that Montanans didn't have indoor plumbing and engaged in animal "husbandry" of the illicit sort also. Stupidity and d'baggery have no regards to income, geography or race/creed.

That water isn't just California's. Colorado, Utah, Arizona and ( :o ) Mexico too all have a claim. Mexico doesn't get more than a trickle and seem to have no legitimate gripe for some reason. This post is sponsored by state water rights conflicts ...bringing you the next U.S. civil war.

I predict many will lose noses.

Huntington Beach is Surf City, dude...you sound angry...chill...Slotown is pretty wealthy, water deprived and dependent upon taxes from the South...grow up, Dude...if people in Orange County seem uppity to you, perhaps, the problem is you. I come from one of the poorest cities in America and Butte folks never looked at others in the mindless way you do....Work hard and you too can be successful and be the uppity one.....fer shure....

Way to turn a great thread about great kids, into a bashing of regions.

Who cares if someone thinks a region, person, or family is uppity!!! It is simply an opinion of someone.

As for the teams in the LL World Series, that CA team left many people with a bad impression. As a little league coach, it upset me to see their pitcher try to trip a runner on his way to 1st base. It infuriated me, of them sliding with cleats up!!!!!! Their coaches seemed liked they did not care about sportsmanship, and it surely did trickle down to many of their players.

My opinions are based on observations, and has nothing to do with where they are from. That CA team is very bad representative to what is LL baseball. I hope those coaches are never afforded an all star team again, at any level.

I'm not one who partakes in class envy or hatred I'll leave that to the Democrats. I'm just correcting the post about the coach having a silver spoon up his butt. There are some very nice areas in HB but the Oceanview district is not one of them. The city is split into 6 different Liitle Leagues with the Oceanview district in by far the poorest area. The name does not reflect the area, there is no view of the ocean where they are located.

Actually, as you can read from some of my posts, I actually apologized and pointed out that I was purposely playing up the Norcal Socal stereotypes... Perhaps it is you that should chill out, the water crack was done tongue in cheek. You know nothing of me or how I view things, and if you did, I think you would be surprised. This whole thing was intended to be funny but has de-evolved into god knows what.

My bad.

I honestly have never seen so many people become upset because a wealthy, white, republican bastion of conservatism was getting picked on....Yes, that was another joke

In another thread, I said some bad things re: Brent Musberger. I know eGrizzers don't care what I said, but I feel I need to apologize for what I said. I spoke out of ignorance of Mr. Musberger's ties with Little League, and esp. his strong ties to Montana, which I thought were weak. Mr. Musberger's presence in calling the LLWS championship game, in which Montana did not participate, changed my mind, because I thought he was only there because Montana had gone so far. After more research, etc., I realize Mr. Musberger is a true Little League booster and Montanan. Again, my apologies.

Best breakfast place around, and the scenery is awesome:

Everytime, I go the the LA area, I try my best to visit Cappy's, between Newport Beach and Huntington Beach. Notice the line. So, get there early. If not, it is worth the wait!

Cali's bats may have come alive or it may be because Big Sky's best pitcher was not eligible to play. This is not to say the other pitchers were bad but Cole did seem to have Cali's number.
Japan needs to learn strategy. If you win the coin toss make sure you bat last. That most likely caused the Cali victory.
To sum it all up, congrats to the Big Sky All Stars and their great season and World Series play. You defeated the eventual world champions! Thank you to all the players, the coaches, the parents and the supporters of not just the Big Sky All Stars but to all in the State of Montana. We have a short season compared to some other areas which makes this even more special.
Also, thanks to AlphaGriz for his posting the videos and other comments. AG and I are polar opposites on Griz football but we sure seem to have this one thing in common. Oh ya, I suspect he may dislike some of the bobcats bloggers as much as I do.

Now, are we ready for some football? Go Griz!

From the Williamsport Sun-Gazette

"Few gave Montana a chance. It was the same old story and once again, Montana silenced its doubters. Cole McKenzie and Sean Jones pitched great, a series of players made terrific plays and Ben Askelson hit a walk-off home run as Montana took its place among the world's elite.

What happened Saturday diminishes nothing. California won a national championship and today has the opportunity to win a world championship. Whatever happens, Montana knows it beat one of the world's two best teams.

It seemed fitting then that the California players and coaches asked Montana players and coaches to pose alongside them while holding the U.S. title banner after Saturday's game. These were two teams seemingly joined at the hip. They roomed next to each other in San Bernardino and they shared the same flight and bus ride to here.

So that postgame gesture had a lot to do with friendship. But it had even more to do with respect.

Montana earned that and a whole lot more this summer.

"It's been a real special ride with them," California manager Jeff Pratto said. "Hopefully, some day we can meet in the middle and play in Colorado or something."

They are 1253 miles apart. Wouldn't the middle be like Provo or Wendover?

Most of Colorado is a bit East of Billings.
