That's his cover story. Period.

Colter needs to remember that you don't get a second chance to make a first impression. He made his bed, and now has to sleep in it.

Blowback. Ain't it a bitch?!!!!

So you are roasting a guy because you don't agree with how he runs his business. Colter covers the entire Big Sky Conference, would you be so upset if he decided not cover a story in the way you are describing if say Bruce Barnum got a DUI? You wouldn't care how he covered it. What if it was both coordinators at UM? Would people on here still call him a parasite?

Griz fans are hurling insults at him and questioning his integrity, so he finally makes a podcast to basically answer the criticism, so what did everyone expect? He gave his honest opinion on why Griz nation is so up in arms about this, as did Kyle Sample who has nothing to do with Skyline. I honestly can't blame Colter for wanting to defend himself a little.

1) I don't care what he does with his business.
2) I gave an honest opinion of his schtick.
3) Why are you trolling on this site? Go back to BN. And take Colter with ya.

He is a text-book defined parasite...

He can't defend not analyzing the extensions and raises for cat criminals.

Is it common for media members in Montana to analyze coaching contracts at all, let alone if there is a raise? I don't remember anybody opining on why X coach got a raise. There is plenty of factual reporting on raises, but not a lot of "did they deserve it" type discussion. If it is common, I'm not sure Colter has done it (I could be wrong I haven't consumed all of his content over the years). You may want him to break his style to analyze it but he has said he doesn't do that, which makes him a parasite in your eyes I guess.

Is it common for media members to ask a head coach directly why an assistant got a raise? Again, I can't think this is very common. Usually coaches are pretty mum about this stuff. Does Hauck give explanations as to why coaches got a raise?

So assuming that is mostly true, if a reporter asked why Garza got a new contract that include a raise I'm pretty sure it would have been shut down with a "no comment' because it would be pretty clear people are only asking because of the DUI, and MSU has made it crystal clear they aren't going to comment about anything that relates to the charges.

I will say this again, I don't agree with MSU on this. A simple statement from Vigen would be sufficient but the whole silence is not a great look. But they've got it locked down so raging at a reporter for not talking about it is pointless when MSU has told them off record they won't comment on it.

I don't think it's common for coaches to talk about raises, but I think the bold makes it a topic. They've already shown that they disseminate the information freely, so it can't be a super-secret "personnel matter". Bottom line is that MSU should have to justify its actions, but nobody will ask (no, I'm not saying Colter should do it). MSU simply declaring that it won't discuss anything related to the arrests doesn't mean they can "no comment" any question relating to the coordinators.

They are making this a bigger story than it would be if they handled it like every other university.

Colter's inactions speak louder than his words. He is what he is. Probably a good guy in person, but he f'd up on MSdUi.

I heard Garza got a 2% raise. About equal to what State employees received. So, salary went down when you take inflation to account. Housewright did not get a raise. My take is Garza should not have got anything.

Your moral high ground is 2%? Maybe suspended pending investigation would be a minimum.

Well, he should have gotten a pink slip along with a very cordial and heartfelt "Don't let the door hit your drunk driving ass on the way out" well-wish.

So, the facts are that the DC had already been arrested for his third DUI, and received a raise. The OC had not yet been arrested for his DUI/coverup scheme, and did not receive a raise. Is that accurate?

I really do not know the details.

Well, you do now as CDA just outlined them perfectly for you.

I was more asking about the facts as reported. I see the following:

1. DC gets arrested for his third DUI in November 2022.
2. DC gets a renewal and a raise in April 2023.
3. OC gets a renewal but no raise in April 2023.
4. OC gets arrested for aggravated DUI and leaving the scene in May 2023.

Is that accurate? I think it is. If an intelligent alien landed in Bozeman and you showed him those facts, what do you think he would believe earns one a raise from the Bozeman State Athletic Department?

Listen, I try not even to get into this topic too much because whatever is going to come out of it will just not be happening until the court system is done with its part. And anyone has any right to have an opinion on media coverage, that's totally fine.

But what happens if your boycott of Skyline actually works, and they go belly up? Regardless of your feelings about the people who work there, just from a purely selfish perspective you are shooting yourself in the foot by eliminating one of only two places on the internet to get good content on the Big Sky. Skyline Sports is in my favorites for their coverage of the sport. I don't need them to be the most aggressive investigators in the state for them to have good value in my life.

If there is a need something will fill the void. As Aristotle observed, “nature abhors a vacuum.”

well, there's always a boycott of the boycotters..

Please push Colter away because this page pouts harder than a 2 year old with a bad diaper. I can always use more Bobcat material. We’d gladly keep him!

Poll: who’s worse? Colter? Or that SS player you all ragged on for supposedly detailing your season? Take your time, They both seem awful IMO!!

This situation was not a normal raise or situation. Your post is irrelevant.
