Listen, I try not even to get into this topic too much because whatever is going to come out of it will just not be happening until the court system is done with its part. And anyone has any right to have an opinion on media coverage, that's totally fine.

But what happens if your boycott of Skyline actually works, and they go belly up? Regardless of your feelings about the people who work there, just from a purely selfish perspective you are shooting yourself in the foot by eliminating one of only two places on the internet to get good content on the Big Sky. Skyline Sports is in my favorites for their coverage of the sport. I don't need them to be the most aggressive investigators in the state for them to have good value in my life.

If there is a need something will fill the void. As Aristotle observed, “nature abhors a vacuum.”

Man, Jimmy Carter AND Aristotle quoted in one thread. God Bless Egriz.

Maybe you're right. And its a free country, anybody who wants to boycott can boycott. I'll go back to staying out of the DUI conversations, and just hope that SOMEBODY at MSU is trying to get these guys the help they need and not just enabling them to keep the good times rolling.

This thread is only validating what Colter and Kyle said.

The rage that has been emanating from Griz nation the last few years is ... something.

- Wanting to leave this bush league conference because the Griz are finally on the losing end of a few bad calls
- Getting into a Twitter spat with Big Sky commissioner over a replay review
- The firestorm that ensued after Gameday announced it was going to Bozeman, after the big push to get it to Missoula the previous year
- Attacking the most prominent personality and reporter for Griz, Cat, and high school athletics in Montana because he isn't pushing the story about the DUI situation in Bozeman as hard as you want. And he's not the only one receiving that wrath

I’m with you (gross). I believe there are 10-15 REALLY squeaky wheels that make most of the commotion on Twitter and such. I really don’t believe Griz Nation is this childish and sensitive. And to clarify, bobcat fans from 2004-2015 were well… y’know… a lot like this haha. Twitter was just less of a thing.

The first part of the last bullet point is the only thing with which I see a problem. :thumb:

I truly believe OP was joking about the current boycott climate in the world.
You are probably right that Garizzlies was being facetious,
Of course he’s right. He’s always right. You are both way smarter than me. About once a year I have to break character and remind everyone that every post I make is a joke. Every. One.

With that said, however, there is truth in jest. That pod was horrible. It missed, particularly the tone, badly. In fact, I would say it was tone-deaf.

So yeah, I will never listen again, but like 1122 pointed out, I wasn't listening to that garbage in the first place.

I don’t like people bad-mouthing The Griz and Griz Nation. And I will call BS anytime I see it. They should have scratched the whole “switch-a-roo” bit from the outline, and instead they leaned into it, and it was the wrong approach.

I will make a note in the files I keep on each poster here. "Garizzalies is always joking." That should help me not send any more horses heads to your bed.

No problem with the rest of what you said, though. It was tone deaf, and seems like Colter took some of the posts here a little bit too much to heart. Sad.

As for you snapping back at people badmouthing The Griz and Griz Nation, good on you for that. It is literally why I finally made an account after lurking here for so long. The demise of the Montana Grizzlies has been greatly exaggerated, and lots of folks are coming out of the woodwork to pile on while they think they have a chance to.

Skyline and Bud Light are pretty much the same thing at this point.

Conundrum! I must be misunderstanding you. Skyline = The Queen of Beers? Yes! Screw both of them.

I can't boycott because I've never found value in the informationless tweets and endless podcasts. Yeah, and the MSUDI alignment.... Time is better spent elsewhere.

Starting to get embarrassed for some of you. Buncha adult crybabies. “But cat fans were ruthless to us when had bad stuff happen… it hurt our enrollment. They wrote a book waaaa”. Yes that sucked for us back then, but direct tweeting at the local press to pry for answers is just embarrassing. Love the rivalry but don’t be a weirdo about it. If the dui happened to another big sky program, it wouldn’t get a fraction of the attention.

I have to disagree with you on your last point. I can't imagine any university in the country retaining an OC and DC with 4 DUI's between them and one was let go twice already for the same thing. It wouldn't get as much attention because they would be gone. Just look around the country at how these situations are dealt with at other institutions. I'll give you a hint, they are not getting raises for it.

Amen brother. Go Griz, FTC all the day long.

I don’t give a shit if people listen or not, the same way I don’t care if people drink Bud Light or not. I won’t be partaking in that dog water (both).

How does a pod about the mess at MSDUI devolve into a Griz bash fest?

Even if it’s true, it’s still wrong. Read the room. The inability to perceive public sentiment on this particular topic in MT is almost too dumb to fathom, until you realize the true genius: it will probably be their highest viewed pod.

Man, I didn't even think of that. Colter may have just been crazy as a fox on that one.

You make some very valid points. The call was horrible but going after Big Sky Commissioner on Twitter is ridiculous. But how many people did that? My guess is less than 5. The Gameday thing definitively stung but “firestorm”.. again less than 10 people on social media isn’t a firestorm. And “attacking” Colter.. again less than 5. “Firestorm” .. “Attacking”..”Wrath”.. are you a cable news ticker writer?

Those wanting to leave the conference have wanted to leave for years, not just because of some bad calls.

What the commissioner said about the bad call was dumb. First, it was a clear mistake, but he defended it. Second, he talked about 17 cameras. I lost any interest in the guy. I think he was. dick.

I thought it was great that GameDay went to MSU.

I support Colter. If I were him, I wouldn't screw up my relationship with MSU to ask questions after the media is reminded not to ask the coach. Bozeman and MT media, like newspaper reporters, should ask the questions.

The Cats think a few posters make a firestorm just like a few good seasons makes the Cats so wonderful. The Cats were down so long that they don't know how to act when their team improved.

I agree wholeheartedly. The kittens have never learned how to be classy in winning or defeat. There’s a million examples of this. Full page print ads wishing we get our ask kicked by Nova versus the Griz wishing them well against NDSU. The constant clamoring back 15 years to the rape scandal anytime something goes wrong with their program (I.e. juicing or DUI’s). We are literally 4 years removed from them dubbing their comeback win in The miracle In Missoula and producing a film about it. You would swear they had a national champion winning streak like NDSU. Truth is they have one win against a short handed MVFC team in the last how many years? And a handful of blowout defeats in that same time period. Last year was their first big sky title in a decade and they dodged all the bullets. They sing esg gcg at every family event. They are not a lovable loser fan base. Just a loser fan base. Like that inbred hillbilly cousin nobody in the family wants to claim, but always shows up beating his chest and exaggerating his only accomplishments in life.

Same. I didn't listen before...and I won't listen now. Doesn't matter to me.

I don't think boycotting Skyline is the answer.
Real professional journalism, not editorials is long overdue.
Having conversations where people actually talk to each other is long overdue.
Being dumbasses on each other's board to simply start fires needed to stop about ten yrs ago, except for one week a yr.
I might not like how Colter portrays the sight as I do feel in a way he overextended himself (ie can't give my level of expected coverage for the Griz), also, because of past transgressions from both the athletic departments (both schools) and reporters hot to get the stories in order to make a name for themselves, I feel it's narrower than a thin line to meet current expectations but yet be able to have access to athletic departments. Also, it's me growing up that I had "that dedicated journalist who WAS a Griz" loved Rial. Cats had theirs too. This state is still too small IMO where one guy can't dabble in both pots of soup, as great of a job as Colter does. I love his passion and maybe deep down, we all just miss having a true journalist on "our" side, no matter if it's us or the neighbors.
We are in one hell of a world ladies and gentlemen. I miss the days when the Trib or the Zoolian were filled with great articles.
Too much ego entered many fields.
Wish we could undo all the BS

PS, Sometimes trying to be all things to keep the peace for all people is more of a disaster than just being who you really are This state is too passionate about their fan base. We both need to recognize when the other team has their good years and players. I really feel that these Fan bases pull Colter so hard, he does his best to keep both happy. End result, it makes them more rabid at him for bluring lines.

I wonder if we got back to true alliance type reporting, if the access would change?🤔

'That's not what I do.' (paraphrasing Colter)
That's his cover story. Period.

Colter needs to remember that you don't get a second chance to make a first impression. He made his bed, and now has to sleep in it.

Blowback. Ain't it a bitch?!!!!

Doesn’t everyone? I guess I shouldn’t throw in that inbred thing in the same response when discussing the kitten fan base. Wouldn’t want to offend any of those brother cousins East of the divide.
