3 out of the 4 games played yesterday were fantastic. My only complaint is there are no bowl games on New Years day.
It's pretty difficult to explain the intensity of the hitting in these games if the players thought the games were not meaningful. For someone like myself that doesn't watch a lot of FBS football during the regular season, they also highlight the large gap between the qualities of FBS and FCS football.AZGrizFan said:mthoopsfan said:I prefer meaningful games. Gotcha. 45,000 people in Houston disagreed with you. As did Memphis and San Diego.

DirecTV and Fox are in a squabble and Fox is not being carried, which was a real pisser not getting the Oregon game.

40K people looking for a holiday party and a football game breaks out. Sounds legit.

Tell me you didn’t watch the game without telling me you didn’t watch the game.

Tell us this is actually a move-up thread without telling us...
Griz2k said:I like bowl games...can't stand the names of most of them anymore but that's a topic for another day I suppose. While I understand the premise of this thread, I ask this; would you rather see the Griz in the FCS playoffs or one of the following bowls...
Here are the bowl games Mountain West teams went to this year....
Jimmy Kimmel Bowl (Fresno St vs Washington St)
Frisco Bowl (Boise St vs North Texas)
Potato Bowl (San Jose St vs Eastern Michigan)
Armed Forces Bowl (Air Force vs Baylor)
Hawai'i Bowl (San Diego St vs Middle Tennessee)
First Responder Bowl (Utah St vs Memphis)
Arizona Bowl (Wyoming vs Ohio)
Rice (5-8) was in one.AZGrizFan said:TaxAct Texas Bowl (Texas Tech vs Ole Miss) - 53,251
Holiday Bowl (Oregon vs North Carolina) - 36,242
Liberty Bowl (Kansas vs Arkansas) - 52,847
Union Home Mortgage Gasparilla Bowl (Wake Forest vs Missouri) - 34,370
Bahamas Bowl - 12,172
Cure Bowl - 11,911
Celebration Bowl - 49,670
Las Vegas Bowl - 29,750
LA Bowl - 32,405
LendingTree Bowl - 20,512
New Mexico Bowl - 22,209
Frisco Bowl - 12,211
Myrtle Beach Bowl - 12,023
Famous Idaho Potato Bowl - 10,122
Boca Raton Bowl - 20,622
New Orleans Bowl - 13,456
Independence Bowl - 23,410
Hawai'i Bowl - 6,605
Quick Lane Bowl - 22,987
Camellia Bowl - 15,322
Birmingham Bowl - 15,901
Guaranteed Rate Bowl - 23,187
For comparison sake: FCS Semifinal games attendance: 12,579 (ICW vs NDSU) and 7,195 (MSU vs SDSU).
My takeaway? About 1/3 of these bowl games need to go away, but many of them are growing and seeing increased interest.
Ironic, you're very happy with an 8-5 Tech record, but very, very unhappy with an 8-5 Grizzly record.AZGrizFan said:kemajic said:And a tough ass QB that takes any hits they lay out, including targeting. Amazing receivers.
Tech is trending UP!  As a long-suffering Tech fan, it’s a pleasure to watch.

True, but to answer my own question, I'm a playoff fan. Knowing that it's win or go home just adds another level of excitement for me in the hopes of making it to the championship game. Bowl games are win...and still go home. While I'd certainly watch and cheer and be excited for a Griz game, for me it'd kind be like "ok, we won the Arizona bowl, I guess we're done here." The championship games in '95 and '01 were unbelievable. I can't imagine being anywhere near that excited for winning one of these bowl games. As you can tell, I'm not a move up guy! Haha...
(P.S.: I hate the current big sky conference as much as anyone though.)
