Both UM Touchbacks Came after Cot. Eyed Joe

Did you notice that both of Lider's touchbacks on kickoffs came right after the playing of Cotton Eyed Joe? I didn't, but a friend did. A certain former all-american kicker used to request Cotton Eyed Joe to be played right prior to his kickoffs.

I did not notice that but I want to say...

Cotton Eyed Joe has become a great Grizzly game tradition!

I hope they never drop it. A few years ago I heard rumbling that some felt it had become stale. I can't speak for others but every game I've attended it gives me a little chill to see the crowd go nuts rocking out and dancing to it. Gets me going too. So I'm not surprised to hear kickers, or players, get pumped up as well.

Long live Joe! :ugeek:

Nah, CEJ, I still love. However tunnel run needs something other than bring em out. Thunderstruck is my call. Course, shit always looks good in my head at 3 am, wth do I know.

Cotton Eyed Joe is awesome in WGS. I have read the pissin' and moanin' from eGrizzers, most of whom, by my assessment, are well off season ticket holders, reminiscent of spoiled and bored ENTITLED rich kids. The 'I'm bored with this.....entertain me' type. There is a cure for this affliction: STAY HOME! Don't torture yourself and bore the rest of us. The other 26,000 won't miss you, whether you admit it or not. A couple years of WGS withdrawal might just put your life in proper perspective.

While I'm sure CEJ had something to do with it, it might also have to do with the fact both his touchbacks were kicking WITH the wind into the NEZ.

I can roll with Joe, but Sweet Caroline is an eighth inning baseball anthem and drives me crazy. If we don't watch out our next sing-along will be "you're the one that I want" from Grease.

Agreed. It kinda puts the crowd into a lul when we should be pumped up. If the game is a blowout in our favor, then all means play it away! :thumb:

No wind on the second kick. A bit on the first. Had several other kicks to NEZ that didn't come close to being touchbacks.

So, what happens if they play it backwards?

This has to be the single most fascinating piece of griz trivia I've ever read. Thanks for sharing...

If played backwards, it says "Paul is dead."

I think it plays "Blue Bobcat Cup" accompanied by the sound of a water buffalo taking a shit.

In other words the MSU fight song.

I was busy watching an attractive MILF dance.

Is "Blue Bobcat Cup" sung by the same guys who own Wheat Montana and Universal Athletic and did the rape joke song?
