Booker is Gone!!!

I don't know why anybody hasn't posted this yet, but if you hadn't heard, Roy Booker has left the team. I have heard this from one of the members of the old coaching staff. He is going to sit a year and transfer to SE Missouri St. Reasons for his transfer were loyalty to Kennedy and a lack of affection for the Missoula community. It's not that he hated the community, but rather that it can be hard adjustment for black b-ballplayers given the rather homogenous racial diversity and the fact that they often feel they live in the shadow of the football program (i.e. more perks). On the positive side of this, my source also feels that U of M's b-ball program is poised for great success in the Big sky next year, boistered by the additions of Lamar Farr and true-freshman Matt Martin from SD.

:( If Roy B is leaving, it is a significant loss. He really came on at the end of last season and was a big time contributer. He has one helluva lot of talent!

Next year should be interesting. Is the schedule out?
I believe that Andrew Strait should also make a significant contribution-
he has played against top competition. Go Griz

I also heard that Kamaar Davis might not be coming back, this is just a rumor so far, let's hope it's not true. It's bad enough losing Booker, but to lose Davis too would really be a blow to the team.

P.S. why was it released in the GF Tribune before the Missoulian? Also given Booker's academic troubles it doesn't seem like a smart thing to sit out a year. If he'd stayed he probably could have been Big Sky selection.

Kamarr Leaving would be a huge blow. Big Sky Newcomer of the year, 1st Team All-Big Sky and our only inside scoring threat last year. If Kamarr leaves, the GRIZ could be in serious trouble next year. Somehow though, I don't think he is leaving.
