Boise State 90 VS Montana 69 Final

Chavez played very hard and did a great job against Boise. He is nowhere near the best player on the court though. He plays like he has something to prove, and it works for him. He was a bright spot for that Boise game.

Oh yeah. Hit the Boise game and drove up to Bozeman that night. Well detoured in West Yellowstone, but that's a whole different story that Chris and I will have to tell later.

Our offense looked very good to start out the game. We were very organized and patient. I think this year's team is a heck of lot smarter than last year's team. We should be able to out-fundamental teams this year.

I'm excited to see Chavez out there - I must admit I wasn't going to believe it until I saw it - but he played well. Still lacks the defensive smarts though. He works really hard and definitely earned my respect that he deserves to be out there playing. He'll be good for some spare minutes here and there - he's definitely the garbage man on this team.

The problem with the Boise game was that BSU put together a run at the beginning of the 2nd half, and the Griz didn't stay patient and stick with the game plan. When they got 6 or 7 points down, they were still in the game, but they made some bad decisions on offense and didn't impose the style they needed to. It sounds like they learned from the Boise game down at LMU though. Very encouraging. Like I said, this team is mentally light years ahead of last year's team.

Coby Karl is a very talented player - wow. BSU will be living and dying by the 3 this year though. If they don't shoot well, they're gonna lose everytime.

I agree with what Krysko says. The defensive play is the only thing keeping Mike off the floor right now. He is an extremely hard worker and is excellent off the boards. If he becomes a reliable defender, he should and will play more.

I think both he and Sharp are the two players who have the most potential at this point. Both of them have great talents, but the fundamentals and college experience is still lacking. Both of these players will be great additions come BSC play.

They should bench that Criswell kid...he sucks!

sarcasm - if anyone did not detect that...

I suppose that #12 kid does alright.

Hopefully he doesn't try to do too much this year. I noticed in Boise that he got a little too competitive against Coby Karl when he was overmatched. He made some decisions to try and do a little more than he may have been capable of, and Karl took advantage. Kevin got himself into foul trouble and spent most of the game on the bench.

I'm glad to see that he bounced back strong against LMU.

He and Virgil are the leaders of this team. When one of them sits, you can really feel the team lose some of its composure. Those two really have a calming affect on the team. It's important that they play smart every game, because if they start making mistakes - the team is going to follow.
