Boise St. can not wear Blue uni's @ home conference games!

BSU agreed to this, it wasn't forced on them. And it's only for conference games, non-conference they're allowed to wear all blue. I'm pretty sure TheMTN's camera would explode if they were trying to follow blue ghosts on the field.

Exactly! Enough of the poor BSU comments.

Fashion Statement: Boise State Can’t Wear Blue Uniforms at Home in MWC Play
By Adam Kramer Jul. 26, 2011

When Boise State agreed to join the Mountain West Conference, they also agreed to some bizarre fashion restrictions when they finally signed on the dotted line. Starting this year, the Broncos will not be allowed to wear their blue uniforms when playing conference games at home. Yes, really.

University brass signed off on this decision, but Boise coach Chris Peterson expressed his frustration with the situation at the Mountain West media day on Tuesday.

“I thought it was ridiculous,” Petersen said. “That’s our colors. That’s who we are. That’s who our fans have wanted us to be since I’ve been at Boise State. That’s what it’s been through and through.”

Since 2000, the Broncos are a staggering 69-2. While their schedule certainly doesn’t rival that of most major conference teams, that’s incredibly impressive no matter how you look at it. Coaches, teams and fans have had choice words when it comes to playing in their all-blue environment, but this is the first action outside timely complaints that have taken place.

The entire situation is somewhat absurd, but Boise State agreed to this prior to making the move. The immediate debate that has surfaced and will continue to be talked about is teams that wear green jerseys, like Hawaii and Oregon, and if they, too hold a competitive advantage. Much different debate altogether, but you can expect to hear fascinating and perhaps animated views on this.

Regardless, Boise can wear the blue uniforms at home when an out-of-conference foe makes this trip. When they do suit up in MWC play, however, they’ll throw on their orange uniforms instead which means you’ll likely spend a good portion of the game wondering why your television set’s color is suddenly acting up.

I'd imagine the green uniforms wouldn't matter because it doesn't hurt your eyes and make the game hard to watch. Red on red and blue on blue or any bright color on bright color is just too much. It'd be nice if they just changed the field to being green. I'm sure the field doesn't care what color it is.

Let me guess... you've only seen these on tv?

Damn straight, most people do. Why the hell would I go to a Boise St game? Yuck. Also more people watch on TV more so than people going to an actual game. So i'm pretty sure it matters mostly for the people watching on tv. Does it even really matter what color the field is if you are there? Because I know for viewers it maters if the field is bright or not. Anyways it's not like it's anything cool or impressive. Just stupid.

The timing of this announcement is interesting to me. Boise State has obviously known about it for quite some time because it was a condition precedent (to which they fully agreed) to joining the MWC. Yet I don't recall any mention of it at the time Boise issued press releases regarding joining the conference. I think releasing the story now was a clever public relations/marketing ploy to fire up the fans and perhaps even the team just prior to the start of this season. I would expect to see some huge sales of blue apparel and merchandise and calls for fans to participate in "blue outs" in protest -- clever, very clever indeed.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of same color jerseys and pants, EXCEPT once a year for a special game.

So no more Eastern red on red???

The red uniforms with long sleeves, the red field and the red football make it very difficult to see on TV and obviously on the Instant reply screen in the playoffs.

The blue in not near as bad as read unless they paint the football blue too.

Great rule and I hope it applies to EWU also.

Of all the idiotic things to worry about! Why not pass a law that states that all college football fields must be made the color of sawdust with chartreusse lines and numbers. No self respecting team would ever put that combination together as their team colors and it would solve the issue. ;)

The teams that Boise State beats say it's an advantage for BSU. The fact is, they're gonna kick your ass no matter what color jerseys they have on. Wait and see
