Brian Fish may be a fish out of water, but the new guy at Montana State does not seem to be out of his depth as a coach. I like what he's doing down there, and I think it bodes well for a return to the intense rivalry we used to feel back when basketball was so big at both schools.

For starters, he's brought in a real stud true freshman in Tyler Hall, while currently redshirting a kid we were on, Mandrell Worthy (great basketball name) out of Washington. In the wings is a 6'10" kid out of Arizona, Devin Kirby, whose length is what we've been pleading for on this board, together with a point guard out of Norway, Harald Frey. Don't know what you can expect from Norway, but after watching St. Mary's build an entire program around Aussie imports, I'm not knocking it. These kids get plenty of experience playing for their national teams, at all age levels, so he might turn out to be pretty good.

Me, I'm not the Bobs hater you see on our boards. I've always liked the people I've met from there, with their characteristically outgoing Montana personalities, and their distinctive dress--flip-flops and hoodies for the guys, mostly pigtails, braids and jeans for the women. Good solid earthy people. And it's in that spirit I look forward to our budding basketball rivalry.

There's the old saying about Bobcat cheerleaders, that the first thing they do every morning is get up and walk home ...

There were subtle signs last year, but in the first months of his second season Brian Fish has definitely turned the Bobcats around. The Bobcats play tough-nosed blue collar hoops and will have an effect on the final standings this season. It'll be nice to have the Montana road trip a tough two-game stand once again. They'll also be a tough tangle for the Griz, who probably have a bit of an advantage in the front court. I'm sort of glad the Griz don't play the Cats until later & hoping Mario Dunn will be in top form.

Gawd, there's a picture, "MSU Enrollment Services" following fan board comments .... "Oh, Pookie, come over here and look at THIS comment!" "I'm sorry, Floppy, I'm just too tired from my walk home this morning ...".

Ha!!!!

Well done, wbt.

I'm impressed too by how the Cats seem to be turning things around. The Hall kid seems to be the real deal, he's No. 8 in scoring in the Big Sky though he's only just a freshman.
