Bobcats aren't a rival

I love the Cats because -
Someone has to be attracted to fat girls.
Someone has to embrace losing in this world.
Someone has to like playing football in a cow pasture.
Someone has to enjoy eating that crap that wheat Montana produces.
Someone has to like sheep when even the fat girls won't love you.
Someone has to like little blue cups.
I don't have to like any of the above things because the Cats have stepped up for the rest of us. I love the Cats.

Posts like this is why nobody likes griz fans. Puff up your chests a little more douche bags. At least a few of you aren't completely f@cking stupid ( B whalberg). If you think that griz domination is back you haven't been paying attention. It isn't just MSU who has leveled the playing field, it is EWU, PSU, Sac State, SUU, ETC, ETC. Keep telling yourselves that you will dominate the Cats for the forseeable future, it will make for a much better let down.
A couple of years of EWU and others having success does not determine the playing field is even. You need to go back much further, like 25 plus years especially for rivalries, so go check the records over the past 25-35 years. The only one that is close is SUU and that is only because we haven't been playing them-EWU is overall the most competitive during that time. So despite your obvious dissatisfaction with Griz pride, the facts are facts. That said, Griz pride bugs me sometimes too.

113 years of competition between two in State teams. Game sold out every year and generates more excitement in State than any other game on each others schedule. I would say that it is a rivalry!

The definition of a rivalry incorporates some level of competiton. I would argue that since the Griz have beaten the Scats 23 out of the last 28 meetings & hold the series record 70-37 this is not a rivalry but simply domination. Once again the Scats are sitting at home come playoff time & everything in the world is right again.

They are too. I love the competition we have with MSU. UM could be playing checkers against the cats and I'd get fired-up for the match. Quit trying to down play it!

Our rival is not the cats IMO, but that bunch of douchebags 200 miles east

I've had a glass of wine but does this make sense - or do I need another glass of wine? :?:

I believe he meant "200 miles west."

Kind of like Bill Simmons used to say about the Red Sox and Yankees, "rivalry" implies that two teams are roughly equals so when two teams just hate each other (but are not competitive) it's really just a feud. We are feuding with the Cats but they aren't our rivals. EWU is well on their way to becoming a true rival though.

Well kids, Bill Simmons "aint God", and he certainly isn't the purveyor of wisdom when it comes to rivalries! To say that 113 years of cross state football, competition for athletes and monies, allegiances that split families, 21,000 + fans at the last game in Bozeman, and message board discussion that states EVERYTHING to the contrary would simply disagree with your baked conclusion.

Realizing you are new to the message board game, let me simply say you my friend are in denial, "wishing upon a star", and hoping for an alternate universe. I hope you find it. But, for those grounded in reality, the rivalry lives on! Go Cats.

Oh, and I hope your prince charming comes to kiss you on the lips sleeping beauty, because you are dreaming!

Griz and Cats are rivals. END OF THREAD

True,
these teams are very closely connected. Although the Griz got the win this season, it hasn't been that lopsided as many think it is these last 10 or so years. Don't get me wrong, the griz are a fantastic program and seem to always field a great team, but the gap isn't as wide as it use to be.

Dont believe the cats are your rival? How many threads are written about us? And same goes for Bobcatnation? As much as I hate it. . . it appears both fan bases are almost obsessed with each other.

So what Bill is saying is that for 85 years the Red Sox and Yankees were not rivals, considering the Yankees won something like 23 World Series in that time.....they owned the Red Sox.

And I'm a RED SOX fan.

What a stupid saying. Oldtimers will tell you the TRUE rival is Idaho, but in recent years its now the Bobcats. By the time EWU reaches rival status we'll be in the PAC-24

I agree with this with all the vim I have. I have four vim units right now.

Sure. "Not a rival." That definitely explains why there have been 5-6 separate threads about them on the front page of egriz at all times since this past summer, as well as the militant defensiveness of the people who start and maintain those threads when anyone else has suggested it looked a little obsessive.

Definitely rivals.

Which is a great thing because nothing beats beating your rivals.

And we do that a LOT.

ri·val·ry
/ˈrīvəlrē/
noun
noun: rivalry; plural noun: rivalries

1. competition for the same objective or for superiority in the same field.

................

It's a rivalry and a fun one at that. I would miss The Cats if we didn't play them. It would be like celebrating Festivus without eating....whatever they eat at Festivus.
