The kid is the best looking Sophomore I've ever seen in the Big Sky and that includes Super Dave. Big, fast, strong, smart, great touch and deep ball. Married up well to this offense and shows great dicipline in running the team and running with the ball. I wouldn't underestimate him under any circumstances. VA a great talent but this kid at another level IMHO.

Here's what Vernon did his sophomore year:

15 Games Played. 4,994 yards and 55 TD (15 INT) on 65.6 completion %. He also rushed for 605 and 4 tugs. He was runner up for Payton Award. Was league MVP and countless other awards and led his team to the FCS semifinals. All in his first year as a starter.

I don't know where to find DD's numbers, but I don't think they were that good his sophomore year.

Prove me wrong egriz.
The problem with comparing quarterback stats now, with those pre 2002, is the earlier group don't include playoffs.
True. Plus offenses were simply different back then. I'm not going to argue that any of these modern guys are better than guys like Dickenson were by comparing the stats. Some of these offenses have turned into total stat machines. Many of them are running 30-50% more plays each game than any offense was back then. So of course the stats are going to grow. I'm happy to let a legend just be a legend. Dickenson was the best 1-AA had to offer at the time he played.

...then there's the report's last line, conveniently ignored by the Kool-Aid slurpers, that JJ to no one's surprise has dropped off the list...

How happy is PlayerRep right now given Rob4's arrival? A new villain and all....I have to admit I actually like both of them at times. PlayerRep because he is steady...slow, but steady. Rob4 is a wrestler, and he posts as such; he just enjoys mixing it up. Mostly though, just shaking my head while reading egriz.

Lol, a voice of reason and devils advocate is all.
The fun begins when I actual meet the guys behind the masks.
Have a great day and enjoy Saturdays game.
I will return then

My only comment on this whole thread is that the Griz have not one but two linebackers that are faster than Prukop? Impressive!

Remember that -18 yards he had against UND? Think more along those terms for the UM game. 8-)

This. The idea is to NOT let it turn into a foot race to the end zone.

Rachac breaks down the contenders in this blog:

For Billings readers, what is Rachac's deal? Seems like he might have missed a QB of note who won the Payton in the period mentioned? Intentional? Doesn't know about UM? Trying to stir up readers and comments? I get that he is the Bobcat beat writer for all of Lee Newspapers, but this seems silly:

The Payton Award (like the Heisman Trophy) has become quarterback-dominated, which is a sign of the prevailing offensive trends in college football. Colgate running back Jamaal Branch was the last non-QB to win it, and that was back in 2003. Since then, a quarterback has taken home the Payton in 10 consecutive years. In the previous decade a QB had won it only four times (including Steve McNair and Tony Romo).

It's about as impressive as having the best DE in the nation before he ever even set foot on campus.

This entire thread is (children based) on the payton list via the mad Russian Prukop.

U know we all hope he wins the award. This season and the next two!

Meanwhile back at the ranch.....

I assume this means you aren't anticipating making the playoffs? Good plan.

No, I got your point. But apparently you missed mine. ;)

I'm not going to bother flipping back a page (or scroll up), so could you guys give the gist of both of your points?

Thanks

Also, playing-the-game joke
