The same thing happened in Chandler 25 years ago. Terrell Suggs was going to Chandler High School but transferred across town to Hamilton when they opened because he liked everything being brand new and the rest is history.I assume the situation was the same in Kalispell as it is now in Bozeman: the new high school goes up in the area where are the growth is happening, which attracts the more affluent young families, and you get much higher participation and kids trying out, including all the kids who have doing years of travel ball in various sports.
School goes from having all of the kids in the area to suddenly getting the less motivated 50% of them.
