Bobcat basketball thread?

The Refs fixed it. Unruh's shots were taken off the scoreboard, and now Proctor shoots 2. Missed the first, hit the 2nd, UNC down by 5, 50-45. UNC still has the ball, and promptly turns it over...15th turnover of the game for them.

This game really is an ugly one to watch.

Its pretty clear that cat fans on BN are bandwagon b-ball fans. Its pretty ironic how there is nothing going on over there. Of course, they did just lose to ball-sac. My ass would be chapped too if that happened to the Griz.

If the Griz were in their shoes right now, there would at least be a couple of us stubborn fans remaining.

That's a load of shit if I've ever heard it. Being frustrated with the current status of the BB team doesn't mean we are bandwagon fans. How you measure fandom by the amount of threads about something is stupid as well. I went to every game I could while I attended and I keep up on the team, but since I don't post about it makes me a bandwagoner? Please.

I like Huse, but it's time for a shot in the arm, finishing the year at .500 or less is getting old.
 
Well to be fair, OP, there are a number of threads/posts on bcn which talk about the apathy over bobcat BB due to their struggles. You may not call that "fairweahter" but I think most people would.

I think apathy is a tad too strong. Basketball will never be what football is, and some people will never care about it. I'm more embarrassed and frustrated and I would tend to lean with that's what's going on.
 
I am so tired of listening to this whining announcer. Everything is one sided. Even though they have shot 10 more freethrows than the Cats they are getting screwed "according to him". The moving screen was very obvious but he didn't like that either and thought it could be a game changer. So could a moving screen Mr Announcer.

Settle down dude, don't be so ass hurt. There wasn't a effing whisper on BN during or after your team took its talents down to the ball-sac.

I will give you credit on sticking with your team after back to back losses to Sacramento st and NCU.....You, sir, are not a bandwagon fan. :thumb:

It's just damn frustrating. I love Cat basketball. There was nothing better getting into that gym and yelling at the opposing team and coach; it was the highlight of most days.
I like Huse as a person, he's a great guy, with a terrific yelling voice, but he's got to go. He's had his time, and he hasn't really done anything. Unfortunately, I believe he has one more year under contract and I just don't see MSU buying him out. I know it's only Montana State and we, and pretty much the whole conference will never be anything on the national level, but it's still D-I BB and I expect something better.

I agree, you should expect more. Heck, I expect the cats to be up with the Griz every year and it's a little disappointing when you aren't. To think, a lot of us Griz fans thought MSU got the better of the assistants during Tinkle's first two years!
 
Count me in as one of those who thought MSU got the better end of the deal (regarding Huse). I think Huse has had a bad run of luck with his recruits the last couple years. He is now stuck with a team of Juco's that have no team chemistry. I see ALOT of run it down, jack up a three, miss, and it takes a matter of 10 seconds. It's like they forgot how to create a shot with something simple like ball rotation.

I actually was feeling kind of bad/rooting for the cats today........ :? I have no clue why. I guess when the little brother hits a low you kinda root for them just to pick their head up. Fu$k, I must be getting old. Oh! This applies to basketball only.

In football, MSU could go 0-11 every year and I could be as happy as a pig in shit.

Wow...what a complete meltdown again in the 2nd half....

OptimusPrime - I think one of the reasons people are saying cat fans are no longer on the bandwagon is we don't even see a game thread over on BCN... for the past 2 games. I went over there to try to follow it for the game against Sac, and there was none. This game against UNC? None... There just seems to be a real lack of interest in Bobcat basketball even on your own forums :( It wasn't always like that... I seem to remember threads back during Durham's years being fairly active.

While I haven't been a Bobcat basketball fan as long as most of the people on BCN, I do follow them pretty closely and have been sort of a fan since Durham's era (unless they played the Griz of course). As much as I hate to say it.... it may be time for Huse to go. Something just isn't right, and there's no real evidence that it'll be right anytime soon. Many of the players play like they are scared to screw up, and others try to pick up the slack when they don't really possess the offensive talent to do so, so they end up forcing bad shots or turning it over at bad times.

There's absolutely no flow whatsoever to the offense, and when it comes down to the last possession of the game...holy shit... It ends up looking like no one really knows wtf to do. And who is the leader on this Bobcat team? Are there any that have shown any evidence of effectively stepping up as a leader?

Every year there are a handful of Bobcat recruits that make me (and probably many Bobcat fans) think "Wow...maybe they'll turn things around next year with these recruits!" and every year so far under Huse it's been the same thing. Lots of promise, apparently lots of talent that occasionally is evident, but poor results and a disappointing season, along with some highly touted recruits no longer being on the team.

It reminds me a little of what us Griz fans saw through the Holst era here.
 
Holst had to recruit when we were playing in Sentinel's gym. He got us to the dance with that scenario. Crazy to attack him. Kennedy can be attacked, Holst not so much.
