I am not for a minute saying we are going to beat Oregon I am saying we are going to not get blown out by 50 points. I keep reading how it is going to be a blow out and hopefully kids won't get hurt yada yada. No more chance of our kids getting hurt as theirs. What's your bet?
The Griz looked great yesterday and it is going to be a great season! BUT yesterday Oregon beat Nevada 77-6. That is the reality of this game.grizindabox said:retiredpopo said:Dillon said:I'll take that bet!retiredpopo said:I agree Oregon is going to know they are in for a game. it is not going to be the game many here keep saying it is going to be.

I think 50 is more likely than 20
You did notice what Oregon did to Nevada yesterday, didn't you? Nevada who just a week ago beat Purdue?retiredpopo said:Dillon said:I'll take that bet!retiredpopo said:I agree Oregon is going to know they are in for a game. it is not going to be the game many here keep saying it is going to be.

You do know that I was the first poster to start touting Knight as a very good running back when he arrived at UM, right? I indicated our running back strength was in good hands with Knight. I made these posts while others were touting other backs. I believe I made some others too.
Feb. 28 - "Knight seems to have very nice speed, without necessarily being a burner, size and some moves. He will be a nice addition."
On April 2, in a thread about who UM's running back is going to be, I said:
"Knight."
Another poster then said this on April 2:
"I find a lot of similarities between PR and Annie Savoy (Susan Sarandon's character in Bull Durham). Every year he chooses someone he can have a virtual (hopefully) bromance with. Last year it was with Sneed. This year with Knight. Hopefully Sneed isn't miffed with being second banana this year but I don't think he is missing out on much not being PR's first banana."
[How am I doing on Sneed and Knight?]
After I touted Knight's stats as my first item after the spring scrimmage, I see that JCU said Knight was clearly the no. 1 back.
By April 21, when I am defending Knight, Kim calls him an impressive transfer.
When GrizRule says this as part of a larger post, I say good analysis and that I agree:
"Marcus Knight showed some great signs this spring. When the OL did its job, Knight looked the part of a lead back. He also looks to be the most versatile."
Aug. 31 - "I like Knight. Hits the hole, has a burst, and has a move or two. But doesn't overuse his moves."
In a post on Aug. 31 defending Eastwood as a D-I player, I also say this: "I like Knight too."
Sept 1 - "I spotted Knight and have been a proponent of him on egriz about as long as anyone. I have also been the poster who has touted Knight more than any other poster. That, however, does not mean that Eastwood is not a D-I back or good player."
I find it interesting that two of the more knowledgeable football posters, Kem and GrizRule, were also touting Knight fairly early. I don't mean to minimize JCU on this, as he was on board early, but I can't recall a lot of his posts and don't recall his football knowledge.
PlayerRep said:Can some of you really not see how well the Griz are playing, in all 3 phases of the game? It's completely obvious to me that this team is much better and much deeper than last year's team.
These were almost dominant wins, against decent to good teams. Without letdowns. Without a large number of costly mistakes. There was nothing lucky about these wins.
Sure, 2 games don't make a season, but watching these 2 games provides lots of reason to be optimistic about the direction UM is going.
No one is anointing UM conference champs, but there sure is a heck of a lot of optimism in the stands and a heck of a lot of reasons to be optimistic.
There are a lot of good football players on that team, and a lot of them are young, hungry and have with huge upside.
Look at special teams plays. How about JLM returns and receiving. He is intense and on fire. Wilson's kickoffs and punts. Purdy's long FG.
How about receivers catching virtually every ball, and making tough catches. New running backs are emerging. The o-line is much better and deeper, and big.The defense is full of good players.
How about the defenders making those tough interceptions, and not leaving opportunities like that on the field. How about the physical toughness and hard-hitting. How many NA players were down on the filed yesterday. How about the Griz o-lineman who gets hurts, and then gets up and sprints off the field.
How about the NEZ noise and support.

The Griz got a shot, that atmosphere is a duplicate of ours so I don’t think that will be an issue. Excited to see what transpires in the next few weeks!
Side Note: I’m confident we could blow out that Nevada team too.

You realize Nevada just beat Purdue right? Also, the current Oregon team would have beat Auburn had they not had 2 unforced turn overs.
Is there any team in the Pac 12 or Mtn West that is better than Oregon this year? I would even go as far as saying they could beat any team in the Big 10/12. Oklahoma might get them, but point is is this is a really good team were about to play. We don't have guys like they have if you've watched any of their games from this season.
Likely true, unfortunately.putter said:With the loss, Oregon knows they have to blow people out to work their way back up the polls. They will try to put 70 on the Griz..
It's good to see older folks with optimism. Not much of that around as we age. I bet most of the players are anxious to see how they do up against a PAC top tier team. I don't know anyone who thought Washington would lose to Cal, yet, they did....so, Go Griz!retiredpopo said:I agree Oregon is going to know they are in for a game. it is not going to be the game many here keep saying it is going to be.

So what do you recommend? Give up and not try to win?
