Bobby or Choate, who wins the locker room motivation battle?

Choate said in his interview with “this week in the Big Sky” that he can’t count how many cats fans and alumni have told him they’d rather beat the Griz than win a national championship. Wow right! That tells you everything about how much this thing means to Lil Bro. Coupled with the 10k bonus Choate gets for a win in the Brawl, he’ll have his team plenty motivated. His job seems to depend on it.

Apparently, Stitt's job depended on it too. I am sure there are just as many Griz fans that feel the same as
some Cat fans feel about the rivalry. There is no Lil Bro factor.

Which is exactly what lil' bros say.

If he had lost those two games but still made the playoffs/made a decent run in them, he would still be here. Nice try though, lil bro. ;)

You guys can make yourselves feel good all you want. The bottom line is there are just as many Griz fans that probably feel the same way about the rivalry as Cat fans. Unless you take a formal poll, there is no way of really knowing. Anything else is all feel good bull sh-t. If you talk to both Coaches, I am sure they would say winning national championships is their number 1 goal. However, I think they would also say that on the way to getting there they do not look past this game. This one has a whole different significance and is a hugely important in this State.
So, I guess you conducted a formal poll to establish this bottom line?

The funniest part about this is they absolutely did! it was a year or two ago on Cats Nation and the results made their way over here. The majority of cats fans (like 70%) decided they’d rather beat the Griz than go to the playoffs! no joke no shit! it’s out there for anyone to see

That absolutely blew my mind when it happened. I thought it was fake at first. It was real.
The Bobcat fan base would rather beat the Griz than make the playoffs. Really think about that for a minute and try to say there is no lil' bro mentality. They would rather beat the Griz than make the playoffs. People forget that.

It was their second biggest public gaff, trailing only the release of the CATS video

it was embarrassingly close but making the playoffs beat out beating the griz and missing the playoffs.

thing I have to remind myself when reading these boards is we make up maybe 10% of the fanbase. some of the most loyal, diehard fans on both sides wouldn't even think of coming to this board. my grandfather is a huge griz fan and donor and I can assure you he's never stepped foot over here.

so I try to take the asinine comments I read here and on bobcat nation with a grain of salt. but I ws mad there was even ONE person that said they'd rather beat the griz than make the playoffs. but to be fair...we brought the topic up here and you guys had a few idiots of your own saying the same crap.

You'd rank it above:
-Bobcat Batter
-Player posters on the shitters
-Choate not being able to spell 'University' in a recruiting letter
-The recruiting video that shows a guy peeing in the shit pond in the background

That's high praise, my man!

Holy shit I stand corrected! I forgot entirely about a couple of those. Speaking of the CATS video we’re gonna need to have that pop up again prior to this game

Well...That sounds bad then you say it like that...

I hate to say it, but I think Bobby has way more to lose than Choach. Maybe they're too optimistic, but Griz fans were expecting better than a 7-4 season, not a 7-4 season. So it would really rub salt into the wound if, in addition to our disappointing W/L record, we got beat in our own house by a kittens team that isn't exactly setting the world on fire.

did I miss anything?

just paragraphs....

Seriously, I like the post. Can't wait!
Kinda of a stream of consciousness thing going on last nite. Lol. It was late and I just didn’t have the time to get it to my editors in NYC. :thumb:

Um.......let’s try and get this thread back on track.

1) Main question after throwing out my take on the meaning of the game was did I miss anything regarding what each team and coach can use for motivation?

2) Next question, which coach will win the locker room motivation battle and get his team up to play and how will they get that done?

Thanks for playing. :thumb:

we did a formal poll. It was about 90/10 split in favor of playoffs vs victory over the Scats.

...both coaches being careful...
...don't put up any bulletin board material...
...unlike egriz where we live for bulletin board material...

...chinga el gatos...

... 8-) ...

Nice observation. I think everyone is playing things close to the vest. Thinking both teams are tight as drums ready to blow the doors off their locker rooms. This should be a really fucking epic game.

Yep. The silence is deafening.

They’re just sitting back letting all us keyboard crusaders do our thing...

Yeah whipping up the base but that’s the whole point of fandom. The next couple of years could be awesome football :thumb:
