I love listening to Bobby being interviewed and like many great coaches, he’s got some great responses. Here’s some of my favs over fall camp.
At media days talking about the team.
“I really like the chemistry and the personality of this team. I don’t have a great feel on how we’re going to be in terms of how good we’ll be, how well we’ll do this year. But I really like being around this team, so I’m just excited to get going and be back with them.”
When asked about Josh Egbo’s injury status.
“Yeah, we don’t do any injuries.”
When asked if Angel Villanueva’s LG spot was up for grabs.
“Well they’re all up for grabs as you know.”
When asked about Jace Lewis biding his time last year behind Josh Buss.
“Well there better not be anybody biding their time around here, you better go compete, so I wouldn’t necessarily agree with that assessment but....”
When asked what he expects from the receiving corps.
“Well I expect them to block well in the run game and I expect them to catch passes when they’re throwing to them. That’d be the starting point so...”
When asked about the diversity of the receiving corps.
“I don’t think having diverse players makes any difference. I think having guys that can make plays is what your looking for.”
His response when a reporter kept digging at Dalton Sneed’s health status during fall camp.
“No more injury questions Frank, or will close practice, ok?”
When asked of putting Cole Grossman on defense.
“We need defensive players in this program, too. He’s got some aptitude there.”
When asked about Adam Eastwood’s attitude from the fumble.
“No fun to put the ball on the ground, in particular in the rivalry game. Certainly, he had some help on that play from both our front and their front...”
When asked how nice a day off from fall camp was to regroup.
“Well you know there’s no heat, there’s no smoke, we get days off. I don’t know how we grind on our guys anymore.”
His response to why they brought in UTEP transfer Kenyan Foster.
“Because we need help at corner.”
When asked about last years short yardage situations.
“Well, we can’t be any worse, first. You have to be able to get short-yardage situations. You can’t be any good in third down if you aren’t converting on third-and-shorts because the other distances are harder. We need to be able to do that. It was an Achilles’ heel for us last year, certainly. We’ve worked hard at that. We’ll get a chance to see soon.”
When asked at the Monday press conference how the Griz will prepare for the silence at South Dakota Saturday due to no seating on the Griz sideline.
“Well, we can go practice out here(Wa-Griz). There won’t be anybody in the stands this afternoon.”
