Bobby Hauck Special Teams

It's been kind of boring around here, & we haven't had a Bobby thread in a while, sooo......
Not sure if anyone watched the Hawaii bowl last night featuring the SDSU Aztecs vs the University of Cincinnati, but Bobby's special teams contributed mightily in the blowout. The game started with the Aztecs taking the opening kickoff 100+ yards to the house setting the tone early. Then later in the 1st half, with UC trailing 21-0, the Bearcats attempted a fake FG on a 4th & 4 or 5 from about the 25. The defense wasn't fooled at all & stuffed it for a big loss. Cincy wouldn't have another scoring opportunity in a long while. Special teams were flawless throughout the rest of the game as well. Happy Holidays ya'll!

Would be mice to get that kind of swagger back on our ST's.

You mean our ST that showed great improvement across board this last season? I think they've got it back, not the Hauck era times, but they're on the right path.

Agree, ST looked great by the end of the season.

Bobby's special teams were very good returning the ball, But they gave up at least one KO return almost every year.

Noticed Griz recruit DJ Davidson retweeted story of SDSU win. Chance of griz signing him. .0000000000001%

Our kickoff returns were far short of great. The best we could hope for was a touchback.

Thank You for the update Bobby!!!

Statistically - and talking field position, I think you'd want to take the touchback in CFB. I read somewhere that 2/3 of KO returns fell short of the 25 when the ball was kicked into the endzone. The article mentioned that there was nothing in the study that measured the distance behind the line the ball as when the runner made the decision to come out. Stitt said somewhere that he doesn't place a premium on kick returns, more so just fielding cleanly and hanging on so he could get his offense on the field. If he's going to place some emphasis on something with special teams, I would hope it was in coverage.

That's fine if his offense was what he claims it to be.

If the objective is the National Championship, the current talent level won't take him there. If the objective is to finish in the middle of the Big Sky pack and beat the Bobcats, we are good to go. I'm talking about the offense, by the way.

This.

I'm okay with negative nellies. But obviously UM must have stolen spanked's girlfriend whenhe was 14. Get the fuck over it. Your act is old and tired.

Everett....as I told Hammer, the Oly, guy, I say it the way I see it. I want only the best for the football team and I believe Bob Stitt will return our program to a position of conference and national dominance within two or three more years. My family has been involved with UM since the 1930's and we care about the university and the athletic programs as much as anyone. I will continue to comment as I wish and if you and Hammer don't like it, have one of Hammer's Olys and relax.
