Bobby Hauck off to San Diego State..

Big G is so wrong on so many things that I won't even start going through them. But he is absolutely spot on when it comes to the talent of Bobby Hauck when it comes to coaching Special Teams. He is a fantastic ST coach and the Griz have suffered in that aspect ever since he left.

Anyone who doesn't understand the importance of that part of a game didn't watch the SeaHawks - Packers game today.

I don't know if Hauck will transform the entire Aztec team, but their Special Teams will be much improved under his tutelage, I can guarantee that.

You think Bobby could have coached that ball right out of Bostick's hands? :)

If coaching Seattle, Hauck would have said: of course, do the one-bounce big hop kick so that it will be coming down just over 10 yards. Kick towards the inexperience blocking tight end who is supposed to be blocking and see if he will not do his job and try to catch the ball and be a hero-- and get hit by some of our unblocked guys. If coaching the Pack, he would have told the team what to expect and reminded everyone, including the inexperienced Bostick, to do his job.

Bostick was supposed to block and allow his teammate with better hands (Nelson) to catch the ball. Look at the replays. If Bostick blocks the Seahawk who got the ball, Nelson, who is behind Bostick, easily catches the ball. Bostick had 2 catches for 3 yards this season.

He might have been alert enough on special teams to have them watch out for the fake field goal!

The point I was making was that BH was a high quality ST coach and in the NFC championship game we saw how important ST play can be.

Do thenames Levander Segars, Jefferon Heidelberger, Colt Anderson, and Tuff Harris ring a bell?
I remember when these guys played I was on the edge of my seat every time they were kicked off or punted to because i knew there was a good chance they could take it to the house.

Under MD, I've been on the edge of my seat worried that the ball would be muffed or fumbled on ST. MD did a lot of good things for the Griz, but I never felt like he dominated ST like BH did.

Don't get me wrong - unlike Big G, who disses Stitt Happens, I am thrilled at the new hire and looking forward to exciting new times in 2015. But that doesn't mean I don't appreciate what BH did for the Griz when he was here or hope for the best for him in the future.

Very good. Can we stop talking about him now?

San Diego St is going to be a top 25 team in no time, with the expertise and hunger that drive a person like Coach Hauck, that will translate to the players, prepare to win championships

Was the QB coach-retired at end of this season.

Gotcha. I remember him back in the day as a really good QB for the Browns.

He did a bang up job in Vegas...

Belichick couldn't win in Vegas. Bobbys biggest mistake was not holding out for a better job. That being said, he's got a lot of dough in the bank.

I am sure Hauck can help the Special Teams but Rocky Long is in charge here. He has done a
decent job so far too. Fans of course want more, but not unlike Griz nation with their somewhat unrealistic expectations, Aztec nation still remembers the Don Coryell era with all of the "small college" championships. SDSU is a commuter school though with, at times, lukewarm fan support for the football program. Long has battled thru these challenges and taken the team to three strait bowl games. Fans don't want to admit it but the program is better than where it was. Is it a on the rise? Maybe. Top 25? That might' be a stretch.

When I was in the Navy in the late 60's, I was home-ported in San Diego and saw many SDSU games of the Coryell era: Don Horn, Brian Sipe, Haven Moses. Those were great times for the Aztecs, they drew attendance equally with the Chargers with Hadl, Mix, Alworth.

Moses went on to have a nice career with the Bills and Broncos....if I recall. Horn was in that crazy Packer mix after Starr, where they tried a bunch of guys...Horn, Jerry Tagge and Scott Hunter. Finally they traded for Lynn Dickey who was stuck behind Pastorini with the Oilers. Good trade for them.

Don't forget Issac Curtis, Fred Dryer, Herm Edwards,Willy Buchannon and many others. Plus Coryell's coaching tree reads like a " who's who" of NFL greats. Joe Gibbs, Chuck Noll, John Madden etc. SDSU was a pretty good producer of NFL talent back in the day.
