Bobby’s Best Defense

It's looking pretty good right now. If we can shut out UW for three quarters and then back it up by holding EWU to far less than their average so far, it might be. We'll find out Saturday.

Go Griz!

Is it Baer’s best defense? That guy has been around and he has had a fascinating career. Worked under some not so successful coaches at big programs. Done well at other places. Did he have bad timing? Underperforming schemes? Underperforming personnel? I am very interested to see what he cooks up this weekend.

What has really elevated this D is the corner play. This group of corners is easily arguably the best group we have ever had. We’ve had some greats but as a group, top to bottom, we have not had this level of talent before. I’m sure they’re really gonna get tested tomorrow night but the success we’ve had has come largely with being able to leave these guys on an island and really focus on stopping the run and making the QB miserable.

:thumb: No doubt that having this group of corners cover the opponents best receivers gives this talented group of LB's the opportunity to rack up the sack total and lets the Griz blitz a lot more often... as they say D wins ya championships...

I agree. I think the Griz will stop Merritt from getting any significant yards, which will make the play action irrelevant. The key will be keeping Berriere in the pocket and stopping his scrambling and hitting his receivers on the run. Also, ball control by the Griz offense. Control the clock against the poor EWU defense, and Berriere and company don’t get on the field. Defense wins championships!

Go Griz!

That Sports Illustrated writer who bashed the Griz just put out another article (still can't get past the hurt) saying Montana was gifted the victory due to the coach being new and unprepared, so you'll have to remove your UW reference.

Lake's Huskies were far too predictable. Montana got a gift. The young UW coach didn't realize it until too late, that he had given the overly surprised Grizzlies an unexpected opening to pull the upset.

:dope:
