Bob Stitt has Earned a New Contract

AZ - perhaps you should just back off your defense a little. While I was never a great Stitt supporter it may be entirely possible that you were correct in your initial premise that a coaching change isn't the ultimate fix. So you can just save up these gotcha posts for 3 years and then really come back hard. And for the record I think it is time for some of you (JCU for example) to quit trying to extract your pound of flesh from AZ and move on.

My defense of what? I stopped defending Stitt a long time ago. Just calling these guys out on their continued fascination with all things Stitt. I could ask “what time is it?’ And they’d turn it into a question about Stitt...

I have full confidence that Hauck will take UM back towards the top. The only questions I have are how long will it take and can he get the team back to being consistently in the top 6 or 8 teams.

He has assembled a top notch staff. They know how to recruit. Excitement is back in Griz football. The new performance center is a big positive. The team will play harder and more physical. The team really wants to win which indicates they have huge desire. They are being coached differently from what Stitt did. Not knocking Stitt just pointing out that it's different.

Players have said that they had never practiced as hard as they did this spring and winter. Most embraced that. I think most of the team believes that Hauck can take them to promised land. I am hopeful. I don't expect miracles and I know things don't happen overnight. In the immortal words of CDA "we shall see."

Regardless of what happens against MSU, I believe Bob Stitt has earned a new contract from the University of Montana. Kent Haslam should go ahead and announce his vote of confidence in this coaching staff.

Stitt's offense is effective, productive and fun to watch. Gresch Jensen has demonstrated how it's supposed to work. Matt Robinson will be waiting in the wings. It's hard to believe how many talented underclassmen Stitt has recruited.

The defense was a concern, but is trending in a very positive direction.

Time for Mr. Haslam to end the suspense and put his best foot forward with a long-term deal.

This post, as well as a number of others in this thread, makes me laugh. I know AWF tries to be funny. Most of the time I don't think he's very funny. However, after looking at this initial post in the thread, I must admit that he finally made me laugh.

PR, any idea what happened to Gage Smith, the kid from Kalispell?

Don't know.

Stitt would’ve won 9 games this year guaranteed. But I expect Hauck to win 10.

What would Stitt and the team have had, compared to last year, that would cause them to win 9 games this year?

Jensen. We will see if Sneed is better than Jensen. He sure was in the spring game.

1 returning starter on o-line. Same corners. Would Stitt have brought in 3 safeties as good as what Hauck has brought in?

Better depth at qb this year.

Assume same receivers, running backs, d-line and backers. On d-line, Hauck has found a new one on the roster, and one has departed.

Better usage of Bingham at TE, and with more weight.

I will assume that true freshman contributors would have been the same, but don't know.

Schemes on O and D. I will assume they will be a push, but some would argue that D should be better this year with different DC.

Hauck will have better special teams. This year's team will have Peppenger to push the returning kickers. Peppenger didn't like Stitt, and wouldn't be at UM if Stitt was still here.

With new schemes on O and D, there won't be any tape on the Griz until after the first game, and really the first few games. Advantage Hauck.

While I think Hauck will be good for another win or two, I don't see how Stitt would have won 9 games this year--based on the returners, the O and D schemes, ST, and seeing what the team did in the past 2 years.

Jensen. We will see if Sneed is better than Jensen. He sure was in the spring game. Jensen would still be here, but offense would still produce the same as before. No better, no worse, but same

1 returning starter on o-line. Same corners. Would Stitt have brought in 3 safeties as good as what Hauck has brought in? No, Stitt does not acknowledge that defense is what is needed to win. He believes he can outscore everyone, but we all know that doesn't work.

Better depth at qb this year.Agree, Hauck promotes competition to find out who wants it and who doesn't. Have liked the prospects he has brought in and Sneed looked good in the Spring. With the offense I see them running, I think it will be successful.

Assume same receivers, running backs, d-line and backers. On d-line, Hauck has found a new one on the roster, and one has departed.I think with actual attention to the defense, it will improve, period.

Better usage of Bingham at TE, and with more weight.Again, just the usage of a TE(s) will help overall offense and O-line. Think it was smart moving Hill there and see him making a major contribution as well(Heard he has really embraced position change, is doing well, and taken on leadership role).

I will assume that true freshman contributors would have been the same, but don't know. Only freshman I see that could possibly contribute is Sulser.

Schemes on O and D. I will assume they will be a push, but some would argue that D should be better this year with different DC.Disagree, I think O and D schemes will be better this year. O will actually help D with TOP and D will be able to stop 3rd and forever's.

Hauck will have better special teams. This year's team will have Peppenger to push the returning kickers. Peppenger didn't like Stitt, and wouldn't be at UM if Stitt was still here. There will ACTUALLY be special teams, enough said.

With new schemes on O and D, there won't be any tape on the Griz until after the first game, and really the first few games. Advantage Hauck.Agree, but I think like any coach worth his salt, he drives the team for perfection, so even if they have tape......so what, still got to stop it.

While I think Hauck will be good for another win or two, I don't see how Stitt would have won 9 games this year--based on the returners, the O and D schemes, ST, and seeing what the team did in the past 2 years.Have said this many times, Stitt was not going to get any better. He was going to remain the same, not better, not worse, but the same. No one wanted that.

Regarding true freshmen playing, I think Janacaro has a better chance of seeing the field this fall than Sulser.

just genius on everybody's part here. pure genius.

an alternative view would be that most every point in greenie's post is just pro-hauck conjecture based on assumptions that may or may not be correct. i.e., greenie sharing the bobby-flavored kool-aid.

Not true. What I said was actually quite neutral. Most of what I said about the personnel is reality. Feel free what you believe is "just pro-Hauck" on the personnel. I left the O and D schemes as neutral. Who in Griz nation doesn't think ST will be better?

So, again, feel free to point out anything that is "just pro-Hauck" and say why. I know you can't or won't do that. You don't know enough about the current Griz team or football to do that.

I was as big a pro-Stitt guy as anyone, but I saw nothing to indicate we would be a 9-win team this season with Bob still coaching us.

Well done, folks.

Your welcome.

Hook, Line and Sinker. eGriz still takes the bait every time. Nice analysis by PR, much appreciated.

Why do you think that?

Based on depth at WR and lack of at FB. Plus the coaches have said he may be pressed into action as a true frosh.
