It's unknowable.

But, cats playing pretty well against nau is knowable - and true.

Their O-line is very good. Lasane and Murray have the potential to run all over the damn field. Our linebackers will need a very, very good game. Thankfully, they appear up to the task.

cat defensive line is terrible. cat secondary is average or below average. Griz score 40+.
I thought that last year, too.

Me too. I did watch them last week whistle to whistle. They won't stop our offense this year.....I friggin' hope. :) Defense just needs some key stops.
What worries me is that occasionally our offense stops our offense.

That is spot on. If we are efficient on offense, avoid 3 and outs and don't turn it over, we will be in good shape.

Our offensive ineptitude is what cost us the game last year.

You really can say with certainty that if Phillips was starting that we still would have lost?

I am not saying we would have... I think it’s more likely we win if it was Phillips v. Cookus. Remember we were playing our 3rd/4th QB. They played their 1/2.

Simply you can’t play the what if game all f***[*] day.

I am pretty sure he is saying that with Cookus, NAU would have beat UM that day with Simis at QB. I see no mention of Phillips. Carry on.

My other concern is TG, combined with Choate (a defensive guy), who have plenty of tape on the Griz offense and Jensen. The offense seems more consistent this year than last year, so that's good. But the Cats had the Griz' number last year, on both sides of the ball. And the Cats are better this year.

And the 2018 / 2019 teams are going to be loaded with the same dudes. Big things ahead

Loaded with the same dudes who have underperformed on defense in a shitty BSC?

I don’t think you can predict the NAU game with Cookus and Phillips starting so why do we keep insisting on saying we wouldn’t beat NAU if they had Cookus
Eriul wrote: ↑Mon Nov 13, 2017 12:42 am
Fact is simple... you don't extend stitt after this year and we get 2+ more years of the team being unranked.

Extend him and likely we spend next 3 years in the top 25
H'mmm - seems like more than a few on this board play fast and loose with the definition of facts, predictions, and opinions.
I see nothing wrong with what was stated. I stated my opinion, which is closer to fact than opinion, with “I think.”

You’re right I missed a “probably” in my original statement of fact. Other than that, the sentences are analytically correct

Simply pointing out the incongruity of your two posts. You, like many others (and to be honest I suppose myself included from time to time) tend to believe our posts are facts and others are mostly wrong headed opinions. If you include the "probably" the first time I don't waste my time or yours posting.

Hawkeye, I'm going to give you a break with your opinion in this matter...(Hoping for a nice plate of your fine grain-fed-tree-stand supply of venison...mmm)

Hey, the Babe Winkleman show is on right now FYI...

Personally I am all for extending him regardless of this weekend. 3 years if he wins this weekend and somewhat playoff success. I would give him 1-2 if he loses this week depending on how badly.

It is no secret that our team is trending in the right direction. All without our starting QB and now we're rolling with a freshman QB that was supposed to be the backup and he's looking poised to be the future and break some career records here.

I think changing coaches now would be devastating. No need for another rebuilding phase. We are finally reaping the rewards of the last one. The arrow on the Griz is very green and has no indication of slowing down unless we make drastic changes.

I'm starting to wonder if you ever played the game.

Same could said about you

Happy to put my football or other credentials up against yours. Let's hear your football pedigree.

I’m not the one in question here. I’m just doubting the claims of an anonymous poster on the internet.

Those two posts were made about completely different topics and different times. They are correct with the exception of my one "probably." Are you just mad about something or are you just trying to find somewhere to analyze someone's points or posts on an informal forum? Even I do not do such analysis and I have an English degree...

Here's how this thread works:

The proposition was that Stitt deserves a new contract, regardless of what happens on Saturday. Come on in, state your opinion, and then get the hell out. There will be no ongoing debate.

Sincerely,

Yes! He has recruited very well. We are poised to make the playoffs and most importantly he has the locker room. The team appears unified this year (looking in from the outside) which was my concern in past seasons. I believe Coach Stitt deserves an extension and I’m glad to have this staff. I like the direction we are going.

In the alternative, does anyone think the program would be better served starting over, losing some commits and team stability, and then rebuilding for at least a couple more seasons under someone else?

Egriz logic for at least the first year under that scenario would be "See, Stitt drove it into the ground. He wrecked the program, so it will take time."

But time on Egriz is a relatively short term. By year two, that worm would start to turn and a lot of the same people who didn't like Stitt would start to not like the next guy either.

Again, I support Stitt/Semore, especially if they beat the Cats and make the playoffs. However, I think it has taken too long to get the program up towards the top. I truly believe that it shouldn't have taken this long, and it still isn't there. UM isn't even in the top 25 going into the last game of the season. Jeez, Delaney's last 2 teams were nos. 12 and 8 in the final polls. Why are the Griz not even in the top 25 at this point of the 3d season? I can argue both sides of this debate. A win next weekend completely tips the balance, tho, at least for me.

Although I can understand the argument about rankings, I personally don't put much stock in the rankings. I dont believe that many voters actually have a clue about the FCS nationwide. Montana for years benefited somewhat because of reputation. Of course that is my opinion, and others can argue otherwise. IF though Montana started this season ranked, we probably would still be ranked - even if we started in the teens. We've have always been on the outside trying to get in this year.

My argument is simply, the top ranked 25 are not, nor are they usually the best 25 in the country because the vote is subjective, and East Coast voters, probably don't know much about Big Sky schools. We even see this in regard to schools like NAU and SUU, that should've been ranked higher earlier in the season after big wins.

lol....he's not anonymous, and most people know who he is on the board. He is a member of the Dartmouth Hall of Fame, in football - so there is your starting point to beat his credentials.

My dad died when I was 10, but he did play football for BYU for a year and then a bit with the Griz. Don't know if he was tough, but he was a good athlete and grew up on the res.
