Bob Stitt has Earned a New Contract

Not even you could be this stupid. At no point did I compare the seasons at the end. I compared them -- just as you did -- by records AT THIS POINT IN THE SEASONS. My post was meant to be ridiculous to highlight how ridiculously meaningless your post was. I trust most on egriz are intelligent enough to understand that.
Yeah, yeah. PR's posts are far more logical and balanced than yours. I'll tee up another (weak) argument for you. Last year we beat one team with a winning record (SUU 6-5). This year we have beaten one team with a winning record (NAU 7-3). The improvement is obvious. Still not in the top 25 after three years. MSU this week is pivotal whether you like it or not. And it's probably a tossup; not sure we could have played NAU with Cookus as tough in Flagstaff as they did. We better not come out like we did in Weber when we had two weeks to prepare. Stitt and Griznation need this win big time.

I don’t think you can predict the NAU game with Cookus and Phillips starting so why do we keep insisting on saying we wouldn’t beat NAU if they had Cookus

It's unknowable.

But, cats playing pretty well against nau is knowable - and true.

Their O-line is very good. Lasane and Murray have the potential to run all over the damn field. Our linebackers will need a very, very good game. Thankfully, they appear up to the task.

cat defensive line is terrible. cat secondary is average or below average. Griz score 40+.

Who did that?

Trade the UDUB loss for another typical Pre-Conference FCS patsy win, and the Griz are 8-2 instead of 7-3.
Montana would probably be currently ranked in some where between 10, and 15th in the polls.....and Mr. Bob Stitt would be the best thing on this sound-off-board since the invention of sliced bread...

That is all...

I thought that last year, too.

Oh my! Best tongue-in-cheek post of the year.

Me too. I did watch them last week whistle to whistle. They won't stop our offense this year.....I friggin' hope. :) Defense just needs some key stops.

What worries me is that occasionally our offense stops our offense.

Really?

I thought the Cats had their best effort of the year against the Jacks. Team definitely trending upwards. This will not be an easy game for the Silvertips.

MSU came into that game 3-7 with wins over Bryant, W. Oregon and 3-8 UCDavis. Had no credentials what so ever.

Fact is simple... you don't extend stitt after this year and we get 2+ more years of the team being unranked.

Extend him and likely we spend next 3 years in the top 25

H'mmm - seems like more than a few on this board play fast and loose with the definition of facts, predictions, and opinions.

You really can say with certainty that if Phillips was starting that we still would have lost?

I am not saying we would have... I think it’s more likely we win if it was Phillips v. Cookus. Remember we were playing our 3rd/4th QB. They played their 1/2.

Simply you can’t play the what if game all fucking day.

I see nothing wrong with what was stated. I stated my opinion, which is closer to fact than opinion, with “I think.”

You’re right I missed a “probably” in my original statement of fact. Other than that, the sentences are analytically correct

I think UM, with the talent and heart of this team, would have beaten NAU with Cookus.

Note that it wasn't easy for UM to adjust to a good, and very fast, running QB. UM prepared for Cookus, and his great passing and decent mobility. UM had to adjust immediately to a completely different kind of QB, and different plays and play-calling. They had to do that in the first Q as the game was going on. They couldn't wait until halftime. I assume there wasn't much tape on the back-up, nor had the Griz coaches focused on him hardly at all. No one on egriz seems to have focused on that. My guess is that if you asked the team/coaches, they would say it wasn't easy to shift gears immediately and that's why the 2d teamer made a number of nice plays against the Griz.

In my view, this team just wasn't going to lose to NAU. They rallied around the next QB, and they truly refused to lose. Plus, the game was at home. Home games don't ensure victory, but they are usually better places to get a win.
