BOARD OF REGENTS emails/contacts

I just dropped them a line telling them they are doing a wonderful job, keep up the good work, and definitely keep RE and MD in place.

Its the only way you could possibly keep winning. By having outside nonrelated football sources politically put the good programs on the sidelines. But continue with that false sense of security. :thumb:

This attitude is exactly why it is not inconceivable to assume that Regents member, esp. MSU grads would like nothing more than to see UM in second place both athletically and academically. Just read catnation and you'll see many posters that would like both the University and Missoula blown from the face of the earth...

I have emailed the regents my displeasures and have gotten two responses.

Krauss did not agree with my displeasure and supports Engstrom. Of course he does he is a MSU grad!

Williams says Regents know much more detail about all that has gone on. No Williams did not discuss any details. Williams did say he understands the 6% drop in enrollment with parents and students concerns with the fears that have come along with being in Missoula and UM.

Mr. Williams says the Engstrom did not cause the negative press and that was done by a few athletes. Mr. Williams also said that the change Engstrom made had been needed for a long time!

Question shouldn't there be an equal number of regents say 3 from UM and 3 from MSU with maybe one person that is a neutral party? BOR seems heavy on MSU folks or people from east of he divide.

Don't you think it's about time you pull your head out of your arse?

lets' look at facts should we?

1. fact one when msu needs a NEW person to run the ship THEY got to do a REAL NATION search what did um get people who did such a poor job at msu they(BOR) hired them to run UM why?

2. when msu "needed to move in a different direction " they when out an got a person NOT AT MSU! what did UM get same old - same old different direction HIRED FROM THE SAME COACHES!! BOR should of had a hand in this or maybe they did!

3. NO LEADERSHIP at UM he(RE) ALWAYS BLAMES SOMEONE ELSE! RE should STAND UP AS A MAN admit he messed this whole thing up and hire a real head coach OUTSIDE of UM JUST LIKE MSU DID!!!

I just sent an e-mail stating my support for RE. We should have cleaned house long ago, the sooner we can change the culture the better off everyone will be.

Teton, for once I sort of agree with you, except I'm curious to know what your definition of "right away" is...If you mean the Griz won't be just fine for winter condo or even spring ball, I might tend to agree. If you mean the 2013 season, I'[ll have to beg to differ. The Griz will be very salty next season, AS LONG AS, the quarterback position is at the very least adequate. The Griz are JUST FINE at every other position, and have as much depth as every other position as they've always had. And before you go and rattle off that you were talking about NCAA sanctions, just check yourself because your Bozeman sources (Papa G) are so far off base it's hilarious.
I dont see anywhere close to the depth on the 2013 team that Bobbys teams had
this. our depth isn't good next year. i think we'll be a playoff team, especially if j.j. comes back, but i don't think 2014 and beyond looks very good at all. 2013 we have a stud oline and canada is a good back. we are weak at w.r. and q.b. is up in the air. the defense will be very good again in the front seven, but the backend is questionable. despite that i definitely see us back in the hunt for a playoff spot.

the scary part isn't 2013, but 2014. we lose 4/5ths of our oline and all three of our three stud starting linebackers. those two units are the heartnsoul of the offense and defense and will need to be completely rebuilt. add that to an already weak secondary and passing game and things look shaky at best.

Yeah, that is what I see too, I will give you that you have a pretty good defensive front seven in 13' but I question the depth there, you may be a couple of injuries away from problems there too.

I agree that um could be a QB away from being a playoff team in 13'

The front 4 will be stout and I'm sure Owens, Maus, and kids like Lippert will have developed just fine. 2012 was the exception not the rule. Wishful thinking.............

i agree. no one thinks we'll go 5-6 again. they might be wishing for that or worse, but i don't see that happening again. i see us as a 9-3 team in 2013 even if j.j. doesn't return, but with the huge losses in the o.l. and l.b. areas maybe a 7-4, 6-5 team in 2013, but I admit it's hard to know that far ahead. the drop off in those two areas is a lot like the drop off on defense from 2011 to 2012. we've been going from graduating just a couple of good players to graduating a whole bunch at once the last few years and needing to rebuild entire areas of our team. it didn't seem to be that way in the past.

I wrote to the Board of Regents to tell them that I have no idea how Engstrom is doing in terms of running the university, because I don't have enough information and I don't want to sound like a total dumbass. I hope they find my comments helpful!

So all is good with awf! :thumb: Maybe if you looked into it you could form an opinion one way or the other. If not then why comment at all?

I am sure you're right in stating that Bullock is a "huge" Griz fan....I bet that if you asked Engstrom the same question he would say that he's a "huge" Griz fan also....perhaps that is why they are both advocating (along with Pat Williams) a change of direction from the current state of Griz football whose troubles were brought on by a few football players....it looks like the BOR is backing Engstrom all the way until the culture changes....unlike this fan board; they can see the Big Picture!!! Griz football will be just fine...just not right away!!!!

You're so full of shit I can smell you from here.

NO ONE, and particuarlly not Bullock or Engstrom has suggested a change of direction in the FB program. President Engstrom has stated -- and I for one am happy he has -- that he won't condone players who have off-the-field issues. That's only a change in direction if you feel that the program as a whole. And neither does anyone else not wearing those ugly-assed colors from Junior College U.
This is Exhibit "A" of the head-in-the-sand approach by some Griz posters!!! If firing the AD and head football coach after a whole slew of serious off field player issues; DESPITE a successful season of football doesn't translate into a serious "change of direction" for the FB team I don't know what does!!!

Wonder what constitutes a long time? Seems to me that if it was before Pflugrad, they would have told him such.

If you've got something to claim as fact, state it. What is "long ago"? Define your terms. Be specific. What are you claiming? What culture are you referring to? How will the football team, the University, and Griz fans be better off? BE SPECIFIC! Delaney, thats specific. Worse record since '85, thats specific. Name names, dates, events which support your argument.

Seems everyone, except for a few know-it-all posters and Florio fans, is waiting for the NCAA to publish the results of this inquisition. What RE did is fact, indisputeable fact. The damage done is fact.

If you can't be specific, perhaps you should stop posting until you can.

Oh, trust me, I didn't comment.

Yes you did..........if you fact wrote to the board and made the comment you know absolutely nothing about how Engstrom is running the U you're comment is "I'm uniformed" making you look like a dumbass.
I mean you said you wrote right?

I did not email any of them. I have used up all of my petty typing time on egriz, so I did not have time.

I e-mailed all of them, and received one reply from Pat Williams. He said that he supported Mr. Engstrom 100%, said that Royce acted fast to clean up an athletic program whose players had given UM a negative image nationally an across the state. He also said that he attributed much of the drop in enrollment to the negative press caused by the problems around the athletic department. I guess we know where he stands now, and it is not pretty.
