From my count with Bohannon and all the incoming guys we have exactly 105 im sure we’ll lose a couple more guys and probably see 4-5 more transfers
My impression was he said they would operate assuming 105 as a result of the opt-in decision not coming until later. The reporter's question was how are you going to deal with the roster given that the opt-in is out there in the future. So, I interpreted his response more as answering the reporter's question. In any event, assuming UM isn't opting in, UM certainly doesn't have to live with 105.Ya but Bobby said during the signing day press conference that his intention was to operate with a 105 man roster. Now maybe he’s since changed his mind on that, but that is what he said as of February.
This was after Haslam had announced we weren’t going to opt in though. My impression was he said they would operate assuming 105 as a result of the opt-in decision not coming until later. So what? I'm not aware that UM has formally said anything to the ncaa on the subject. And the deadline keeps getting extended. And, as Hauck said in his interview, the rules keep changing. I believe the deadline for opting in is now in June. And I don't believe the judge has provided the final ruling yet. Things could change. Listen to the press conference and listen to the question and the response. This was after Haslam had announced we weren’t going to opt in though.
Agreed. I do think our d line may very well be shored up. Peavey and the Carroll kid solidify it tremendously, certainly can always use 1 more difference maker.I like the add.
But, it's just window dressing.
Must address both lines to reach full program potential...not should, not could, MUST!
Bobby said in the press conference that they are always looking for more lineman, but I agree that the DL seems to have lots of nice-looking players, and some terrific news ads assuming everyone shows up.Agreed. Offensive line... until we get back to having multiple 1st team all conference dudes up front offensively, I will always assume we are looking for portal additions there.
I hope you're right!!I know I'm in the minority here, but we are now returning a solid line with some great size in the freshman class and good transfers. I'm ALWAYS happy to add more quality lineman, everything starts there on either side, but we are also returning guys with great experience in Klimczak, Panfiloff, Brown, and Botner. Johnson and Freitas appear to be great pieces to me. Add in the Tight Ends we have look like great size and ready to block.
Personally, and I know this is just all "subjective feel," I think that we have some real potential to already have our best line in the last few years.
I am with you here... absolutely. I'm bullish on the improvement at this position already. Just not proven still, so if they get an opportunity on bringing in a proven difference maker, I'm sure they will.I know I'm in the minority here, but we are now returning a solid line with some great size in the freshman class and good transfers. Freitas is going to be All-American good.I am with you here... absolutely. I'm bullish on the improvement at this position already. Just not proven still, so if they get an opportunity on bringing in a proven difference maker, I'm sure they will.
Hope so. Since the Griz are going to the Pacific Northwest in '26 to fight OSU he will be near home in Washington. I feel we have a few young All-American good OL on the team this year such as Big Dog Carter who also is trying to compete with him. Near model matched bodies.Freitas is going to be All-American good.
'Big Dog Carter?'...I feel we have a few young All-American good OL on the team this year such as Big Dog Carter...
No, I was referring to Carter Bowen.'Big Dog Carter?'
I'm assuming you're referring to Forrest Carter from out of Olympia, Washington. I heard that originally he committed to the Griz but seems to have evidently changed his commitment to Carroll College in Helena.
This kid is one to keep an eye on. Conference lineman of the year after playing QB/DL as a junior. Look at his QB stats. https://gogriz.com/sports/football/roster/matt-hilden/7796I know I'm in the minority here, but we are now returning a solid line with some great size in the freshman class and good transfers. IMO, He has a year or two to go before the Griz really see what he has. His future looks good. This kid is one to keep an eye on. Conference lineman of the year after playing QB/DL as a junior. Look at his QB stats. https://gogriz.com/sports/football/roster/matt-hilden/7796
You are probably right but he can get some reps this year and add depth.IMO, He has a year or two to go before the Griz really see what he has. His future looks good.
Now - compare what your are imagining to schools that have won the natty in the past 10 years...I know I'm in the minority here, but we are now returning a solid line with some great size in the freshman class and good transfers.
