Black Turf at Idaho

I heard a rumor today (which I'm guessing is BS) that the U of Idaho is installing Black Turf for next season... Can anyone confirm or (most likely) deny this. If this is for some reason true

It's almost black now the way the rubber pellets rise to the surface. There's not a lot of fake grass poking through that field.

I suppose that might work in a dome, but can you imagine early season games outdoors on a black surface? Hot!

Some guy from Carroll interviewed at halftime of the Saints game today suggested that the school will be looking at their own faux grass sometime in the future. The color? Purple? Gold?

Since color of the field has now come into prominence, the NFL, NCAA, and all other football organizations should add to specifications for football fields that the color will be green. Enough of this idiocy about fields in colors other than green. That red turf of EWU makes watching a game difficult on TV. This is getting out of hand. Tradition does have its points & one of them is the green color of the football field. Showmanship is fine, but this is ridiculous.

Reminds me of the days of the early American Basketball Association, when the ball was in red, white, and blue. But when the ABA merged with the NBA, that nonsense was over. The turf-making companies should say, "You can have your field in any color you want, as long as it's green."

purple turf for the weebs and yellow for NAU -- portland's outrageous choice will be ... green.

Weber is getting new field turf next year, but it aint gonna be purple

I just gotta say that I really think we're selling ourselves short with field monochromaticism. Let's get creative people. How bout a polka dot field...candy cane stripes...some damn crop circles or something...a 100-yard version of Van Gogh's 'Starry Night' would look nice...or let's maybe get some 3D technology involved and make this thing really come to life...translucent grass on top of millions of LED lights is really within our grasp, I can feel it. No need for commercial breaks, just run the ads on the field itself during the game. Am I the only one with my thumb not up my ass right now? Let's get to it!

Well that's one helluva surprise, pard. Hell, I didn't even know your school existed before a few months ago, and now y'all are plannin' on making a capital expenditure for a new playin' surface. Hell, I saw the same happen to the Chrysler dealership up the road a few years back. They ain't in business anymore, and now the former owner walks around town with a bowler hat and a trench coat flashin' every dame in sight. It really is sad, pard. Here's to hopin' that ain't what happens to you and yours.
