Biggest Team Need for 2022?

O-Line.
QB.

We should be good elsewhere. Hope Grave's continues to grow into the next safety now that Robertson graduated. Other than that I think we are good on defense.

WR should be ok as long as nobody leaves via transfer portal (not saying they will, just stating we look good as of now). Same for TE.

O-line has some good looking young dudes but we could use help from an experienced transfer/dropdown. I like our younger dudes, just need another year of development. I will guess that Casey starts though. The few games he played this year will be valuable and I think he will be strong multi-year starter.

As for QB, the kid from Helena could pan-out to be a great gunslinger, but I highly doubt he will get the chance to start this upcoming season. Is Britt the answer? Patterson? Brown? I bet they compete for the job but I also bet we get a transfer.

We are fine at RB with a healthy Knight, Ostmo, Harris, and the Minnesota kid who has committed.

The premise that the o-line will improve with experience is proven false year over year for the Griz. It simply doesn't happen. Wait until this spring and people on here will gush because so-and-so is up to 315...and so-and-so bench pressed a car.

It won't matter...we do not, and have not had a coach who can recruit or develop linemen.

Our biggest need is a new o-line coach. Period.

You should get fired from your job. I’ve never done it before and have no idea what I’m talking about but you should be fired.

Can't disagree with QB and OL, especially tackle. Could also use a bigger TE for blocking and DEs with Babros and Belknap graduating.

Agreed. I think we a relatively fine at corner but if you can get the right dudes like Onu and Ford you do it.

We have but it's been a while. Bob Beers, the architect of the great 90's OLs. Then Pflugrad brought him back in 2010 for a reunion, but he had no time to get it done as we know how that story turned out. He returned to NFL scouting. Bob was a LB, but a great OL coach. BH can be loyal to his assistants to a fault.

Yes, should have added time context. I remember when the Griz used to stack 1st team All BSC and All American linemen.

A store manager that loses money should be fired. I've never been a store manager.

A lawyer who never wins a case should be fired. I've never been one.

But, thanks for posting Mr. Germer.

We need the strength and conditioning/OL coach from NDSU! He/she makes those O-Linemen tough. Makes them be able to move defenders without being run over. Our guys can probably lift a house but if you can't move that body, the defenders will continue to run around and over you.
Keep doing what we have been doing because it has been so successful! NOT!!!

In the NFL they talk pad level. Lower level wins. 6'7" 335 OL v. 6'2" 305 DL. Who wins most battles? Who moves who off the blocks?

One could argue that Mallory actually RE-gressed this year from last year...

In Knight's one season he rushed 227-1030 4.5/carry and 23 TD's, he also caught 34-277 and 2 TD's.

Are you saying that you don't feel that these are not good enough to be considered "a legit D1 back." ?

First of all I don't care about his numbers, any running back in the FCS would put up numbers like that in the Big Sky conference. BSC teams play very little defense and its why all of them get bounced early in the playoffs every year. Its an unarguable fact.

I want a 220-225lb running back that can hammer the opposing defense 30 times a game and bust it open in the 4th quarter. We don't have that guy on our roster. You would think a coach that likes to run the ball would address that. With a bigger back losing weight as the season goes on he would be around the same size at the end of the season as the current guys weight when they start the season. It matters

You obviously have not seen Knight lately. He is a legit 6'1", 220lb running back with top level speed. He is actually our strongest and biggest back. He may be one of. . .if not the. . .strongest guys on the team. Ask around. Watch his film. Enough said.

Agree...and not so sure Beaver didn't as well

Beaver more so. He was beaten a lot and a lot of penalties. Mallory was fine; helped out at center while Forbes was out.

Beaver definitely did, just like the guy above mentioned, he plays to high and loses leverage. Most noticeable against shorter players

He’s a better center than guard, IMHO. But I’m a pedestrian fan who never played the game, let alone O-line…

I agree it's time to replace Germer his offensive lines seem to underperform every year. I doubt Hauck makes any changes though. He never seems to replace anybody even if they need to go.
