Big XII Looking at 17 Teams for Expansion

The list was released by ESPN this morning. Cincinnati, Houston, BYU, South Florida, UCF, UConn, Memphis, Colorado State, Boise State, Tulane, Temple, East Carolina, SMU and New Mexico are the teams invited to provide a presentation to the conference. I don't believe it'll happen, but the MWC is looking at possibly losing one member, if not more. I wonder what that ripple down effect will be?

That's only 14 teams! Who are the 3 mystery teams? College Sportts Nation on XM channel 84 were wondering who the other 3 schools are in the running. Hmmmm.....

UCLA doesn't make any sense, which is why it could happen I suppose:)

Lets face it - does adding Houston, SMU, Memphis...et al, Make the Big 12 better? Not in my opinion.

But, poaching teams like UCLA and Nebraska do. Who knows - just whispers down in Big 12 country.

Nebraska, which already left the Big 12 once to join the Big Ten returns to a hemorrhaging Big 12 :!: :?: :!: :?: Get real... :? Plus give up an annual grudge match with natural rival Iowa? No way No how...

Nebraska had some great rivals in the Big 12 including Oklahoma, Texas and Colorado. Obviously Colorado is in the Pac 12 now so that wouldn't come back. Either way, I think you're right, I don't think Nebraska goes back to the Big 12.

Better get that Gateway project finished up!

Boise st and Byu would be good choices in my opinion. Two good programs and they would not be dismantling other conferences. If you take some of those Conf usa teams you are really watering down CUSA.
I wish they would just make the big split between the P5 and the rest of fbs/fcs. Do one last major change then leave shit alone. Quit ruining rivalries and having teams change conferences and teams moving up all the time.

This mega-conference stuff is stupid. The NCAA needs to expand the playoffs to 8 teams and then mandate there be 8 "Power" conferences which will get one representative each. Split some of these conferences up whic will open up more qualit OOC match-ups and still have interest in the playoff and $$$ which is all anyone cares about anyway

BYU's biggest hurdle probably has nothing to do with football or athletics......more the schools stance on LGBT issues.....the politics of athletics.....

The NCAA does not have that level of power.

I read and article and it mentioned Texas, Oklahoma, Okla State, etc bailing and going to SEC and B10. Also said that B12 woukd Rey getting more schools to fill in for the defection which spells end of B12. Texas should just got to Pac12. I don't think Texas wants A&M. Icould see Okla and Okla state Go to SEC. Kan and kstate go B10. Iowas??

Air Force is the last team to meet w/ the Big 12. Boise's academics will be the death of them, they are SOOOOO far behind the Big12.

Might be a great poll question: Are mega/power conference alignments driven by TV revenue or something else?

UCLA is in on a $20 million Fox TV contract with the PAC-12, so what would it take to get them to jump?

I think it is a media market driven thing. The two flagship Montana schools would have to sell themselves to the MWC on that basis, and with college football being the biggest draw in a television market of about 1mm could work in their favor.

I think TX goes Pac-12 before UCLA jumps to the Big 12.

Texas with its Longhorn Network is staying put. No need to go anywhere else.
