Big Sky preview

Hi Griz compadres,
The guy who runs the Portland State blog here in Portland has done a pretty good preview of the Big Sky if you're interested.

Third time's the charm!
Go griz!

Very nice preview... On the Sac State portion. Newcomer Angel Alamo is not 6'9 180, he's more like 225. And the author is right, you'd better remember the Alamo. This is the best recruit Sac State has nabbed in years. I understand preseason competition isn't stellar, but he's been tearing things up over here and I believe he's 1st team all big sky material.

Here's a write up from HornetSports.com

Remember The Alamo

One glaring weakness for Sacramento State over the years has been the lack of productivity from the team’s centers. The Hornets had four players start at center last season, and those four combined to average a grand total of 4.6 points and 5.8 rebounds per game.

The big man production figures to change this year with the addition of junior Angel Alamo. A transfer from Riverside Community College, Alamo was one of the Hornets’ largest profile recruits during the offseason. He averaged 12.7 points and 6.6 rebounds per game for Riverside while shooting 51.8 percent (158-305) from the field.

Alamo hasn’t disappointed in his first two exhibition games with the Hornets, averaging 20.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 76.2 percent (16-21) from the field. Born and raised in Brooklyn, the 6-9, 225-pounder also scored 21 points on 10-of-11 shooting in the team’s annual Green-Gold scrimmage.

That is a decent preview.t I do not believe Mick Durham was fired at msu. I think that job was Mick's as long as he wanted it. I think he got burned out after all the off the court problems and just wasn't having any fun coaching. If so, he did the right thing. I bet his golf game is a lot better now.

Here is a link to a Seattle Times article about Stuckey, EWU, and the BSC:

Griz mention:

Eastern's path to match the school's rousing 2004 march to the NCAA tournament won't be easy. For one, Montana returns most of the team that brushed aside No. 5 seed Nevada in the dance a year ago.

It was that Montana team that ended Eastern's season, 73-71 in overtime in the league tournament, when Stuckey missed a runner in the key that would have won it late in regulation.
