We are down to the Lady Griz, as the only team that can win a post season game for the Big Sky Conference, men or women.

To recap:
Men's Basketball
NCAA: UNC loses to SDSU, 68-50
CBI: Montana loses to Duquesne, 87-76
CBI: Weber State loses to Oregon, 68-59
CIT: Northern Arizona loses to Santa Clara, 68-63

Women's Basketball
WNIT: PSU loses to Wyoming, 79-44
WBI: UNC loses to CS-Bakersfield, 83-74

Bad Matchups? Bad Teams? Weak conference? Bad Seedings? What's your opinion?

Personally I believe some teams just had bad luck in their matchups. For the men UNC has to play probably the best team, on the West Coast this year, but with a 15 seed the could expect it. It took us 10 minutes to long to figure out Duquesne's offense, we avoid that 22-2 run, and we give them a game, and a probable win. Weber probably beat Oregon if game is in Ogden, but CBI changes their mind on the host team. NAU actually plays the 4th place Santa Clara team pretty well. We all know how good the WCC is, with losses to Portland and San Francisco.

As for the women, I was shocked to see PSU get dominated by a Wyoming team, perhaps their heart just want into the WNIT berth, which is unfortunate. That's a 64 team tournament also. Don't know to much about the two Big Sky losses though other than the final scores. UNC did lead CSUB at the end of the first half, but loss the game in the 2nd half.

So if falls to our Lady Griz to prevent the Big Sky from going 0-7 in the post season. It will take potentially the biggest upset ever in the women's NCAA tournament, but it is possible.

Good luck to our Lady Griz!!!

On the men's side, I would lean to just not very good teams compared to most of the other conferences. All the teams have some talented players on them but there isn't a team that has the answers at all five positions.

On the women's side I think that the conference is very strong and very balanced. PSU, UM,MSU, NAU, UNC, Weber State, and ISU all have very good to great coaches and really know how to get the best out of their teams. From looking at the scores I can only guess that PSU simply had a bad shooting night.

Where teams from the Big Sky struggle is usually when they meet up with tall athletic posts from other conferences. Before three season ending injuries and losing starting point guard to team infractions I thought that MSU had the strongest team in the conference and could compete with in post season tournaments.

Looking forward towards next year I think that Lady Griz, PSU and UNC will probably field the strongest team.
