Big Sky Officials

Same thing happened to the Griz playing in pokey? Can’t remember but it was the indoor barn where the goal posts hang down from the ceiling and the refs by the goalposts are closer than usual. When Griz kicker kicked, the PAT went right through the uprights and the officials called it not good and on the replay….neither official was even looking up toward the ball. They were staring at the line of scrimmage and you could see them both look at each other and tentatively make the “no good” signal. I don’t think anything ever came of that.

I hate bad calls. I was a Ref in my 20's. Caesar, after the Battle of Zela said 'Veni, Vidi, Vici'(I came, I saw, I conquered).

I had a similar response after actually refereeing(I don't know the Latin, but my sentiments were): "I came, I sucked, I left." No stones thrown by me.😱🥵
My experience dealing with officials for over 35 years, most have huge egos and will do anything to prove themselves correct and if the if you question they rarely will accept it as anything other than an attack on them more personally than the call. Very few have enough self confidence to admit they missed it/screwed up. Some are great and some suck, bad ref at key time only a matter of time until it’s a disaster. Always said, don’t leave it in the hands of the officials but sometimes sadly it is

I'll never forget this gem when EWU "missed" a field goal in the Kibbie Dome.

I shared that in the football Slack channel at work and one of my coworkers immediately recognized the Kibbie Dome from his time working on the NCAA football video game series. Apparently the odd layout of the field created a lot of problems for the game team too 🤣

Ah yes, my previous post, I thought it was the barn in Pokey, but seeing this jars my memory. It was for sure the Kibbie dome and the refs did the same thing. Didn't look at the ball during the PAT and this exact same thing happened.

This still angers me lol. That was the first time we (EWU) lost to Idaho since they moved to FBS (I don't think EWU ever lost to Idaho when they were FBS.)

Not enough camera angles. Just ask the commish.

What galls me is that instant replay was installed to reverse a wrong call when there is “indisputable video evidence” so why then does it take so long to review? Officiating was never believed or intended to be perfect so unless a quick review of the video doesn’t obviously reveal a mistake then call stands. Of course mistake by a review official is a bit of a different thing…

Can any one answer my earlier question...who actually make the final decision: guy in the booth or the whitehat on the field?

Were Big Sky officials working the Vikes/Rams game at the end last night, on the missed facemask on Darnold in the end zone?

The referee should never be given another assignment.

Referee (R)

Position

  • Offensive backfield, right side of the formation, 15 yards deep and behind the normal Tight End position

General Responsibilities

  • Oversees everything related to the officials and maintains the pace of the game
  • Verbally and visually communicates all fouls
  • Counts the offensive players on the field
  • Determines first downs or if a measurement is necessary
  • Final authority on disputed rulings

Run Plays

  • Before the snap, watches for false starts by the QB and the Running Backs
  • Watches the Center, Right Guard, Right Tackle, monitors their actions and those of the defenders engaged with them

Pass Plays

  • Before the snap, watches for false starts by the QB and the Running Backs
  • Watches the Right Guard, Right Tackle and monitors their actions and those of the defenders engaged with them
  • Turns attention solely to quarterback as the defense becomes a threat
  • Primarily responsible for all action around and to the QB/Passer
  • Rules on Roughing the Passer, Offensive Holding, Pass/Fumble and Intentional Grounding

ah ha that is the problem they forgot to put rules on face masking.....

The quality of the officiating would improve if they were allowed to have their red bottomed white cane on the field. Wistrcill needs to address this inequity NOW! This is a DEI issue.

Anyone else catch this on the radio broadcast?
Officials show both teams the heads and tails of the coin. Montana calls tails. The refs give the heads call to Northern Colorado until their kicker points out the coin landed on tails.
#BSCrefs can't even get the coin flip called correctly.
Nice sportsmanship by NCU to point out the error.
