Big Sky Message??

Did the Sky send a message to the rest of the FCs with this weekend’s performance?

EWU beating UNLV
Davis beating Tulsa
MSU taking Wyoming to the wire

And the coup de grace, the Griz with a win of epic proportions.

Think that other conference stood up and took notice?

The Big Sky won more FBS Games than the American, Sun Belt and MAC, and as many as C-USA and the Mountain West

what is the message? david might beat goliath again, with a lucky shot? or is the message that the big sky has teams that can routinely out-compete p5 schools, in subjects other than fly fishing?

i am serious with my question, i.e. what are your views on the ability of big sky teams to compete on a week to week basis with schools with more scholarships?

Not sure I understand your question. If Montana joined the Mountain West Conference, we would be competitive on a week to week basis. We would be able to offer the same number of scholarships as a FBS school.

I think you missed the point. The Big Sky has been maligned as a second tier conference for years. But now there are three teams that beat FBS schools. And another that took 1 down to the wire. It’s an impressive showing that illustrates the depth and talent level of the Big Sky.

Did you watch the EWU, Davis, or Montana games? Did you watch your own? It’s not David and Goliath any more.

I don’t know. Do you think if we played UW again they’d win by 30? Would they win 9/10? Because I saw a Griz team on the field that was every BIT as athletic and fast as the UW players. We were not outmatched physically. The CONFERENCE just posted 3 FBS wins in the same weekend. hasn’t happened in 12 years. We’ve talked ad nauseum on this board about UM’s need for a “statement” FBS win if we wanted to be in the same discussion as NDSU…well, we got it this weekend. And a couple other conference brothers managed to make their own little statements as well…I’m just wondering if it makes the MVFC sit up and take notice a little more….now that (as Everett so clearly stated) we’ve made UW our bitch in football AND basketball….

Within the Big Sky, after the 2 Spring games and then the UW game, the message is:

The Evil Empire is Back!

if the two teams played again, with a more calm humphrey not missing so many wide open receivers, it might be the griz that win by 30.
