Big Sky Champs (or Eastern Game Thread)

Let's face it, we can probably kiss the big dance good-bye. With few exceptions, the Griz just don't play well on the road.

There was definitely questionable calls, and no calls. Honestly though. the GRIZ did not take care of business, and let EWU hang in there way too long. The GRIZ offense and rebounding choked and game the game to EWU.
This was indeed a choke! Terrible execution! EWU lost to the cats for crying out loud! What a way to blow the Big Sky Title. The Griz are not playing there best basketball right now and I really don't see how they can beat either Nortern Colo or Weber at their places. N Colo. just beat NAU. Scheiss!

Weber shooting lights out to start the 2nd half. Up 51-36.

Amazing how that happens. Griz haven't really had a shooting the lights out type of game all season. I don't know if it is mental at this point. If it was, surely someone would snap out of it. The Griz's outside shooting is just that terrible.

I will say it again, as I did after the Griz lost a 10-point lead versus PSU and nearly lost the game.....this team has no killer instinct....no heart. All of the Great Griz teams of the past had it....this team does not. They play soft during crunch-time....shoot without confidence, do not block-out for rebounds.

Why was Selvig on the bench for so long late in the 2nd half while ewu was making their big run? He wasn't in foul trouble was he?

I felt that way about Weber most of last year. But Bamforth has almost single handily made Weber a good shooting team this year. He's second in the nation in 3 point %. Hughey and Bullinger have also had good shooting years.

Sac St making a run. Only down 7 now, after trailing by 15.

Growler, heart is not what this team lacks. It takes heart to play the defense it does. The GRIZ lack a perimeter game!!! Heart is the reason why this team beat UCLA, and did better than predicted in preseason polls. We were picked to finish 3rd, If I recall correctly.

As for conference record, they exceeded my pick of 11-5.

BTW, in terms of basketball relevance. The only GREAT team the GRIZ ever had was the one that took UCLA to the wire in the NCAA tournament. I do recall many good GRIZ teams, but GREAT, no.

This team cannot shoot into the ocean, and they are very young. For only having one SR, they have done quite well, despite being a terrible perimeter shooting team.

If Northern Colorado wins out, and WSU wins out, 3rd place is where Montana will be, and pretty smart voters in the poll.

And I do agree with you, It is not Heart that the Griz lack. They lack a Staudacher.

Or Michael Taylor. It is sad when we do not have one guy that consistently hit a 3 with a game on the line. Most us here are way past our basketball primes, but with some practice, many of us could hit over 1/3 from 3. Granted, we would have to be wide open to do so. That is the point, the GRIZ do not even hit wide open looks consistently.

I pray every returnee shoots 3 after 3 over the summer. I pray our recruits, Richardson and Gregory, both come in ready to compete for time. A month ago, I thought by now someone would emerge from the perimeter. Unbelievable it has not happened. If the returnees do not improve, Richardson and Gregory will be licking their chops, knowing the door is wide open to start next season. Wiesner will help us from the perimeter too.

Only if we could have kept Michael Taylor here for this year.
