Nobody is rooting against the Griz they are just stating that they suck in comparison to the actual teams in the playoffs that are good and really deserve to be there.

It also points out just how wrong some fans have been all year while essentially putting lipstick on a pig so they can feel good about something. It's sad they need that so bad they lie to themselves

The Griz were 3d in the Big Sky and the Griz beat the 3d team in the MV. That's just a fact. The Griz just lost to the top team in the MV, a team the Griz had beaten earlier in the year. As others have said, the Griz were 2-1 againt the MV this year. Why can't you accept that?

You are still not explaining the Griz D demise. Explain it for Christ's sake.....why is the Gtiz D so good yet they are ranked so low?

Griz D's demise? UM D played fairly well, and even well at times, yesterday. The Griz D played well or fairly well much of the season. Yesterday, UM held NDSU to 16 points, 316 yards of total offense, and 1-14 in 3d down conversions. NDSU started drives within MT territory 5 times, including 3 times inside the 35, but scored only 1 TD on those series. You have refused to acknowledge, address or dispute the D's fairly good performance yesterday.

The reason for that is that you can't, for 3 reasons. One, the D's performance was indisputable reasonably good against NDSU. Two, you are too biased and agenda-driven to admit this. Three, you apparently don't have the substantive knowledge of football to address this. You are one of those people who tries to change the subject, or brings up something irrelevant, when he can't defend his position, or gets called on something. You just can't deal with reality. Also, I don't see people lining up to support you on this one, except perhaps your buddies Alpha and Growler.

Can't help it if you all are stupid and would know good or great defense if it fell on your face and wiggled

Alpha, read the news. The Bison defense was so stellar because they had figured out the Griz offense snap signal. That gave the defense to start the same tie as the offense and be that much quicker to the play.
This is a simple fix, change the snap signal every game.

Sure as fuck didn't see one from the guys in the puke green yesterday....

The big sky had a team in the national championship in 2008, 2009, 2010, had a team in the final four from 2008-2013, I think the big sky is just fine. The Missouri valley is having a good run or at least one team in their conference is, but if you look at the stats the past 8 years tough to find a conference with more success...

Down year for the BSC, no question.

Did you just realize that now with all your alleged football knowledge, alfie?
no shit. This was known about 4 games into the season.

Nuts! In the end as I get over our dismal loss yesterday I continue to think about our next years team. I also would like to see our assistant coaches stay on. I keep thinking we will get a leg up and continue to get better. It will take a period but I do think we have a pretty good thing going for us

Boo hoo, the Big Sky isn't as good as the current best conference in FCS. Great for the MV conference. Not a big deal to me. The Big Sky used to be better than the MV. Things change. They will chance again.

I never understand "fans" who essentially root against their team, and their conference.
Aren't analysis and rooting two different things? Demonize the opinions you don't like; familiar tactic.

We should all be concerned about retaining Gregorak. He will have other opportunities.

I was at the UNI - PSU game last night. While I wasn't surprised by UNI's physical brand of football, I thought that PSU actually played them very well. They mostly matched up evenly. Really there were 4 big running plays that got behind the PSU defense and that is why they lost. I was really cheering for the Vikings as well. I really wanted to have some new faces in the dome next week instead of this stupid regionalism crap that the committee came up with.

Also - congrats on a great season that flew in the face of the many obstacles that came your team's way. The Griz are clearly headed in the right direction.

What bothers me about this is it shows this coaching staff is very inexperienced. Isn't this covered in football 101?

Was wondering about that--and as a Deaf person that has played football from elementary school to college, I've taught myself to widen my field of vision (peripherals).

Every time an opposing player/QB would slap the center (or even when the ball is being snapped) I'm usually across the line before they can even react..

You've been a broken record touting the Griz D and TG for the last few years. Sure The D gave it their all yesterday but C'mon. They just aren't ranked high at all. They ended the season ranked 109th against the run.

Hey CV, mind if I take a stab?

It's not that the defense was statistically amazing or dominant. What made them really good was that for the most part they could reliably keep the Griz in games the the offense seemed hell-bent on keeping us out of. While there were break-downs and miscues, this defense was scrappy enough to bail the offense out all season. I wonder what the average TOP for the entire season is, however I think that our opponents have won this statistic quite impressively. Given just how much they were forced to play, they did remarkably well. While they are statistically less than stellar at the run, it was awful hard to put points on them. In short, they were the most reliable part of this team.

Are they better than many other defenses? Maybe. We play in an offense heavy conference, others do not. Stats don't always tell the whole story.

Scrappy? Fair enough. But being ranked above only nine teams against the run can't be explained away that easily.....That's a problem.

I think my point was that stats only tell part of the narrative. The defense kept us in more games than the stats suggest. I do agree that run defense absolutely has to improve. A deep playoff run, not to mention a championship run, is next to impossible otherwise.

Maybe the offenses of the BSC aren't as good as we think either, as it shows in the playoffs. That even makes the defenses worse

Right now the BSC has scored 9 points in 2 playoff games.

Once again getting fu*king housed and bounced. Yeah BSC is soft, a joke and we are barely in the top 3-5 teams in that shit conference.
Troll: Ok, you think the Griz should win a NC every year. ("Well, NDSU is doing it, why can't we?") I doubt you & many others on this board thought the Griz would get this far this season. The Griz and Coach Stitt did damned well in the first year of his reign.

You're as phony as a $3 bill, raising this "issue" of the standing of the BSC. After all, the BSC sent 3 teams to the playoffs. Your comments are more fitting for the pro teams, not the BSC teams, Troll.

Let's see you better address how the D played yesterday. After you give a detailed review of the D yesterday, I'll give you the results of my research on the D this year. By the way, your stat on defense against the run is not correct. You don't even know how to read stats. You are a broken record, focusing on one of perhaps 15 stats on defense, and then you can't even get the stat right. Looking forward to blasting you out of the water--after you give a full review and account of how the UM D played yesterday.

CV's run defense stat isn't right. Not even close to being right. UM's rush defense stat, while not great, was 14th amongst playoff teams. Not great. Not bad. The rush defense stat is also skewed because UM played against the nos. 1, 10, 12 (twice), 15, and 18 ranked rushing offenses.
