Its pretty obvious the Griz fans did well in both Portland and Cheney. Looks like about 500 per contest

Griz get 4036 tonight, but Saturday should be close to 6000+, trying to beat the record outright..

Any word on what the attendance was last night?

Weber had 7,168 last night vs rival Southern Utah

Nice!!

You guys seem to have the reverse problem. Those were some great football teams in 08 and 10 and I was shocked there were not more fans for those teams when they played the Griz. I guess for many being a fan ends when a particular sport's season ends.

Weber is and always will be a basketball school, and unless the football team can "cowboy up" and put up the winning numbers the basketball team continues to put up year in and year out they wont get the same support the hoops team gets.

It's very sad, I go to all the home games, and Weber is trying to make the football games a more fun and entertaining experience, but the team itself continues to struggle, of course scheduling ourselves out of the playoffs year in and year out doesnt help either, (I heard a rumor this is the last year Weber will play 2 FBS teams)

Montana Griz football IS what every fan of every other school wants thier school to be. Major props to you the Griz fans for your undying devotion to that program, and now it seems your hoops team is getting great support now too, which is deserved.

Thanks Wildcatfan.
You should have seen UM basketball from about 1970s-late 80s or so, when Michael Ray, Derrick Pope, Krysko and Tinkle played. I'd even say the 2001 team had IT. It was Frantic, packed, and insane. And the Griz were good - but really not quite as good as they have been in past few years. Its frustrating that they don't pack the place with the quality they have right now. BTW I wish we had your Dee Event Center in Missoula (sans the purple). That's a nice facility for any Mid-Major. Dahlberg feels dated, the tickets are WAY too expensive. There are now far fewer seats than before the "updates" which ruined the student section, screwed the general admission folks and sacrificed good fan seats for the wine and cheese elite. I actually had folks behind me tell me to sit down at the last game. That NEVER would have happened in the old days! In fact anyone who suggested sitting would have been body-surfed out the door.

If UM expanded the General Admission section to all the unused GSA seats, we could probably pack in another 1k or so. In this economy its unreasonable to expect folks to shell out $100 or more to take the family to every basketball home game.

love ur comments! i hope we can have some good stories like that at some of these games! we need better fan support at both of our schools in basketball. both teams are deserving of much better crowds.

what are you talking about? I have aweosme seats in section 211, not a season ticket holder but i buy seats in that section for every single game. Great view of the floor, i love those seats...9 dollars! so what are u talking about....should they be 7 dollars? lol. I guess a family would be forced to pay a 100 dollars if they were like 11 deep, but the only way a family would be FORCED to pay that kind of money is if they chose to sit donw on the floor.....too expensive, please

Thanks in part to a bunch of free tickets, a bunch of local school kids and the Jazz Bear, Weber recorded thier largest crowd of the year last night, 8,758. The largest attended conf game since our game vs Eastern last year, which was the largest since 2003 when Weber played Eastern.............go figure.

I was wondering how they pulled off that attendance on a Monday night against the mighty ISU Bengals! 8700 is something I wish we could pull off. Kudos to the AD for getting butts in the bleachers

The problem is the general lack of desire. I people really wanted to be there, they'd be there. I mean I usually get great seats, but when I don't I still find a place to be at...half the fun is the big games is the environment, and that's regardless of where you sit. I get so tired of people telling me to sit down Nd quit screaming. On a side note, that actually happened with the weber AD and his wife last year in the championship. But seriously, if people knew how much fun it is when the place is packed and the team is rolling they'd want to one back. It's the entitlement that kills me, when nothing is ever good enough, so we just won't come. That's stupid. Until people can learn not to leave every game with 5 minutes left to beat trafic and the "students" even in the upper level can learn to make some noise and get up though, we won't get there.
