Big Sky attendance goes up

Just wrote up a post... the Big Sky attendance was up last year. 18th out of 31 conferences in average attendance, and up to 2,500 fans per game on average (compared to about 2,300 the year before).

Montana stayed pretty steady at 2nd in the conference with about 4,000 per game.

Do they count the Conference tournament games? If so, Montana advancing to the final was a huge help. Also the last 3 regular season home games, were greatly attended. Let's hope the trend continues. :thumb:

But still, averaging 4,005 in attendance while the seating capacity is somewhere around 7,500 seems a little mediocre to me. But then again, considering what NAU, PSU and Sacramento State average, less than a thousand, it's quite superb in comparison. Hopefully better next year. A winning programs helps, I guess; look at what has happened to MSU and Northern Colorado after but one year. The temperature must have dipped to below 70° F; that's why they stayed away and hid under their beds, or something.

Longing for the good old days of Heathcote, M.R. Richardson, Montgomery, LK and a full house every game.

I hear ya, however, playing devil's advocate...I'm sick of constantly hearing this. Those days are gone. Whining about it, and talking about "the good ole days" of attendance ins't going to make it any better. It's time to let it go. Yes, it would be EPIC if the house was constantly full, and I'm hoping for that, but quite frankly, it is time to quit talking about when attendance was awesome at Griz Mens BBall games.

Criticizing someone for reminiscing isn’t fun to hear either. I would like it like that again also. I've been saving those potatoes and dead bobcats to throw on the floor for years. Has to come back someday.

I hear ya coyote. It wasn't my intention to bash the poster. I should have worded it different. Reminiscing is great. I'm more against the sentiment of comparing current bball to the good ole heyday. So, to AzGriz, I sincerely apologize if it came across as me bashing you. My bad.

More than just reminiscing, I guess I was really attempting to reconcile in my own mind why 15-1 regular seasons, multiple NCAA tourney trips and consecutive 20-wins seasons aren't enough to get 7500 people interested in going to Griz basketball games on a regular basis. Makes me wish I lived in Missoula again....
