Big Sky Attendance 2005-2014

Yeah, true.. HBCUs get ridiculous attendance sometimes, even though they really never play anyone outside of their conference or geographic area.
It's all about representing, the games are more like a giant block party. The Magic City Classic has 60,000 people show up for the game plus another 30 to 40k going down for the party.

YIKES!! Well, let me attempt to defend Weber State's paltry representation.

1. Most of our fans are either saving money for Basketball or their quickly approaching funerals.
2. Our students, for football, at least, would rather support the University of Utah, BYU (I don't know why), or Utah State; all within an hour of Weber State. Also, there is Real Salt Lake, AAA Bees, and the NBA Jazz. Lots to do along the Wasatch Front. More people live in two counties than the entire state of Montana and yet, Weber can't get any of them to drive 15mins to come to a game that costs less than a movie. While, Montana and State get their fans to drive cross state. Impressive!!
3. Weber State has a marketing director who thinks his colon is the light of day.
4. Lets be honest here...the biggest reason is the fact that Weber has only won 6 games in the past three seasons. Ugh ouch.
5. Weber played Montana in 12, Montana State in 13, and NDSU last year at home...each significantly helped our attendance figures. That is one positive about having a 5 game home schedule every freaking year.
6. The brilliant minds leading athletics didn't count non-paid admissions from 2006 - 2010 (not that that really matters out of 26K students, only about 500 realize that they attend Weber State.
7. Last year WSUSA (Student Government) put up a poster on our bell tower with the full football schedule on it in November. Just in time for the last home game. Efficiency!!
8. As some of you know, Utah, like Montana, is a beautiful place to be in Fall; however, for some weird, unexplained, reason 5 weeks a year Ogden gets hit with unprecedented weather. That could be in the form of a hurricane off of the Great Salt Lake, a Monsoon (remember 2008??), blizzards (NAU has fallen victim to this twice), heat (a 90 degree day game in October??) etc etc etc. Faint of heart, but the U and the Y have full stadiums those days.
9. Lets' face it...Utahans love to go to hike, raft, climb, bike, and a number of outdoor activities. Who has time for football in fall?
10. ESPN usually has a better game than what is being played at Stewart Stadium.

honorable mention:
Have I mentioned how ineffective our marketing is? Most people have no idea whether or not the marketing director even knows where Ogden is. Seeing him work is like spotting a dodo!

I was curious about how the average attendance for Big Sky teams have been over the last 10 years... Over the last decade, how many teams besides Montana and Montana State have averaged more than 10k in a season?

Montana (10 times, 2005-2014)
Montana State (10 times, 2005-2014)
North Dakota (1 time, 2008)
Portland State (1 time, 2007)
...........
Crickets.

OMG, so you are telling us the EWU faithful have been exaggerating attendance the last few years??? According to a few EWU posters at EGRIZ, they are consistently over 10k. :thumb:
Only when Montana comes to town.
While at an ewu tailgate last year during our game numerous ewu fans were bragging about the hundreds of tickets they had bought to the game. All to make it harder for Griz fans to get them.

And WHY is that??? Great football, great football FCS facilities, alumni pride, or something else?
