Big Sky All-Conference Thoughts

Ok, so the season is over. The talk about all-conference team can commence.

I'm thinking kind of like this:

Ruben Boykin Jr. (NAU) - MVP

Kelly Golob (NAU)
Andrew Strait (UM)
Kevin Criswell (UM)
Rodney Stuckey (EWU)
Ja'Ron Jefferson (MSU)
Dashawn Freeman (SAC)
Alex Bausley (SAC)
Jake Schroeder (PSU)
Coric Riggs (WSU)
Slim Millien (ISU)

Honorables:
Tyrone Bazy (NAU)
Virgil Matthews (UM)
Paul Butorac (EWU)
Al Beye (MSU)
Marvin Moss (MSU)
Jason Harris (SAC)
Ryan Sommer (PSU)
David Patten (WSU)
Tim Henry (ISU)
David Schroeder (ISU)

Excellent prediction, gym rat. I would make one change. It's going to be a bit of a homer one, but I think Al Beye should be first team All-Big Sky. He's been playing at a very high level for the conference season. But otherwise, the predictions look great.

Good looking stuff, Rat. You've been paying attention. The entire list is fair, well thought out and done by somebody who both knows his hoops. Congratulations. The only thing that might happen differently is that since this is a vote of the coaches, Stuckey might get Player of the Year. Either Millien or Beye would be a good choice for defensive player of the year; so, too, would Stuckey, actually. They could give NAU the consolation prize by making Adras the coach of the year. Applause to you. Anybody else?

Stuckey could very well be player of the year - but the BSC always has the MVP from the team that wins the conference.

I really wanted to put Beye on the All-Conference team, because his numbers are better than Jefferson's, but you see how much Ja'Ron means to his team if you look at the PSU/EWU road trip. They usually only pick 10 All-Conference with 1 MVP, so you've got to take somebody off of the list.

Honestly, I'd put Beye on over Schroeder. Just trying to predict what the BSC is going to do.

I really have a hard time picking a new-comer of the year. Stuckey will get freshman of the year, so he can't be it. Maybe Kasey Winters? Tyrone Bazy? Juma Kamara? Maybe they'll make Josh Wilson freshman of the year since Stuckey is going to get all-conference.

Adras will definitely get coach of the year.

Here's a few Big Sky stats rankings:

Points:
Stuckey - 1st (10th nationally)
Boykin - 8th

Rebounds:
Stuckey - 12th
Boykin - 1st

Assists:
Stuckey - 3rd
Boykin - 21st

you would have to think that if the award is Most Valuable Player (to their own team) Stuckey would have to get it. If they lost him they wouldn't have much. Usually with these awards, team record plays a major role into it.
