The first play-in game – "The First Four" – on right now. Strange box score: St. Francis (PA) up by a point in the middle of the 2nd half. Refs have called 9 fouls on SFPA, 12 on South Alabama ... but the SoBama Hornets have yet to shoot a foul shot (SFPA 9 of 12). Game could still go either way.

A new experience for us ... we got our first pick right. Hornets by a basket (layup) in the last few seconds. Not a buzzer beater, but close enough.

Note that we have our "obligatory" 5-12 upset: McNeese over Clemson. The Cowboys are better than many people expected, and their ranking numbers are good but not great. So that was certainly part of the upset. However, the reality is that Clemson basically didn't show up until near the very end. Think about this: The Tigers were down 31-13 at the half, and had scored less than 30 points with 10 min. left in the game. They started a comeback, but were still down by 12 points with just under 4 min. to go. The final score was close (69-67), but Clemson never actually took a lead.

In case you missed it, we had another 12-5 upset: Colorado State over Memphis. Oregon better show up tonight against Liberty, which has won a lot of games and looked really, really good at times. Of course, they're playing in Seattle, basically a home game for the Ducks.

Interesting that CSU was actually favored in this game. Go Ducks!

The CSU matchup with Michigan might be the most
interesting game today. Being in Seattle, there could be a distinct home court advantage.

Pity poor Baylor. They play Duke at a definite home game ... in Raleigh, NC.

Michigan plays Texas A&M. CSU plays Maryland tomorrow.

Yep. Not sure how I got my wires crossed since I thought I was reading right off of the ESPN schedule display.

That Michigan-TA&M game should be interesting. Meanwhile, the big crowd of BYU fans in Denver could give them an edge over Wisconsin.

The Wisconsin/BYU game will probably be a knockdown drag out game. It is going to be quite interesting. I think Wisconsin gets the nod due to their quickness, especially on defense. BYU has the two big guys, 15 and 45, which they rotate in and out of the game. I don’t remember seeing both of the big guys on the floor at the same time. However, they may put both big guys in for this game. By the way, I wish we had at least one of those big guys.

Is anyone going to the second round games in Denver? They should both be great matchups. I follow the Big 12 as well as the Big Sky this year’s BYU team is as talented as anyone in their region until Duke. We also saw how great of a team Wisconsin is as well. Texas A&M and Michigan should be interesting as well. We have played both programs before in the postseason during the Travis Dequire era. This Michigan team has the talent for a deep run but also has some known flaws. I have not followed Texas A&M at all but they have to be respectable as a 4 seed.

This Michigan A&M game is a good one lots of lead changes.
A 2+ min dry spell for A&M hurt them badly. They need a run to close the gap.

The other two games on now are pretty good too. Currently in a TV timeout for the Creighton - Auburn game and the Bluejays lead by a bucket.

The refs have been pretty whistle happy in Denver compared to other locations. Michigan and A&M are both in the double bonus.

If Wisco’s season ends tonight gotta give some respect to Tonje. He was very solid against the Griz and gave BYU 37.
