Beyond the Extension

I hope:

Stitt's recruiting classes begin their payoff.

Stitt knows he needs to make changes on the defensive side of the ball, and he makes them.

Stitt knows he must invest in special teams.

Stitt knows he must foster a near league-leading rushing attack to win football games in December.

Stitt continues to pass OC responsibilities to Selle.

Stitt brings in his best recruiting class to date.

Stitt stays out of Germer's way. Perhaps, CG has the toughest offseason job of all...

Stitt leads the team to a BSC championship next year...

I agree. I think Stitt is going to get some kind of extension. He thought he evaluated everything last year....this off-season will be a doozy for him. I like the kids he has brought in but they need to have a fire in their belly's. MSU had it on Saturday and UM did not, this has to change in order to get UM back to where they have been.

What is amazing is he has all those young former Griz players now coaching, plus coaches that were with others like Green and Germer. Why are they not able to help light a fire? They must know what's it like to play in the game.

That’s a question I’ve had for some time. While I understand the ultimate accountability falls on the head coach...but there are LOTS of guys in that room who supposed DO understand the importance and should be able to light a fire, yet don’t appear to be doing so....

True, and if we are going to blame Semore for the defense, why are we not calling out those same position coaches? As someone posted earlier, everyone is accountable - except it seems on eGriz. If Semore needs to go, mainly because of a bad secondary, then it seems logical that Shann needs to go to. And I know some Griz fans won't like that statement.

This has been bugging the hell out of me. I understand that Stitt isn’t a rah rah guy but, you’d think one of the others would step up.

Change in defensive scheme and overall team attitude/culture. Kids will leave because this team is soft, which is fine, probably a good thing.

Play the best players. The ones that make plays when needed, not the ones that light up weaker opponents. This will result in benching starters. Which is what’s needed.

Reward and encourage players like Strahm. They make plays and bring forward an attitude of punching opponents in the teeth. We are seriously going to miss that guy next year.

And weren’t we just applauding the playclling a couple weeks ago when it was learned that Selle was helping call plays? And now there’s bitching about the play calling on Saturday? Wouldn’t some of THAT fall on Selle as well?

It is hilarious that half the board thinks the team needs more fire, passion, heart, etc., etc., and then simultaneously bitch about Strahm who has ALL those things.

The people who complain about Strahm are just remembering a couple personal fouls from when he was a Freshman and Sophomore (on kick coverage if I remember right). It was hilarious in another thread where people were bitching about Strahm's frequent penalties and personal fouls last year... upon checking the play by play he had 1 (a roughing the passer) and 1 other penalty (illegal block on an interception return). Full list of Griz penalties from the 2016 season.

I think he got blamed by a few people for a personal foul in last year's Griz/cat game that was costly...however that personal foul was on Kidder, not Strahm.

It's very similar to all the "Nguyen always fumbles" crap that followed John Nguyen around. If you look at the actual play by play and stats it just wasn't true. I haven't looked through the play by plays this year to see how many penalties Strahm had, but I just about guarantee you it's fewer than people would expect. He plays with a lot of passion and fire but also did a damn good job keeping it mostly under control the past couple of years.
