Better, but not better

The offense has improved dramatically over last year and the defense has stayed about the same, yet here we are staring at a second straight 7-4 regular season.
Our regular season losses in 2015 were by 1, 3, 10, and 19 points. In 2016 they've been by 1, 3, 11, 19.

We improved from 8th to 2nd in scoring offense, 9th to 6th in total offense (per play), 11th to 7th in rush offense (per play) and 11th to 5th in pass off. efficiency.

Our scoring margin (14.4) is way up from 2015 (4.7) and is second behind EWU (16.2). The other potential playoff teams in the league are UND (8.6), CP (2.9) and WSU (-2.3).

How can they improve that much statistically, but have nothing to show for it in the record?

Wrong!
The defense is almost identical to last year. A defense that ranks 4th in scoring, 1st in yards allowed per play, 2nd in rush yards per play, and fifth in pass efficiency is not at fault. That's a championship defense.

Blowouts against the weak sisters of the poor and collapses against the better teams. There, that explains it.

Offense stats look so good because we ran it up on Mississippi Valley, Sac St. and ISU. Include St Francis in the mix and our 6 win season looks a bit suspect to say the least.

It's nearly identical to 2015, but I don't recall this amount of whining. Losses by 1,3,11,19 this year. Losses by 1, 3, 10, 19 last year. Same w/l record.

Tough luck on the easy home/tough road schedule. Having EWU and NAU in consecutive weeks away was less than ideal.

He must be a disciple of 75.
Hardly; simple facts.

I meant getgrizzy.

75 is much more speculative than I'll ever be. And he doesn't even concede that his speculation is speculation at times.

With a decent kicker we are probably talking about being 8 and 2 right now. Need improvement there! How do the kicking stats look compared to last year?

You might be onto something there. FGs are about the same 14-18 this year and 20-26 last year, but there's been a ton of missed XPs this year. Last year 39-42 (93%) on XPs, this year 43-53 (81%).

Only missed 10 X-tra points? Seems to me we missed that many per game this year.
