Bethune-Cookman vs Coastal Carolina mini-scouting report

Interesting 'pick your poison' on which team the Griz would rather face. BC seems to have a strong defense, one that might keep the game close in a playoff game where any weird bounce/int could change the game. CC seems to have no problems scoring points, which could lead into a EWU/Sac State shootout type game. Things like strength of schedule, garabage time scores, etc can scew scores and stats to be misleading. Going on quick judgement alone, I would rather play BC, but I have nothing to support that notion.

This is be a very intersting game to follow on Saturday, especially CC's offense vs BC's defense. Helps that it is an early game so the Griz can start prepping for the winner right away.

This is the same reason I'd rather play NDSU rather than EIU if we win our first game...I'm still happy with the #8 seed

This from the Orlando Sentinel:

MEAC champion Bethune-Cookman Wildcats will start off the Football Bowl Championship playoffs on the road at Coastal Carolina Saturday.

"We just found out we travel to CCU and play against a good Coastal Carolina team that we lost to last year. We're excited to line up against them and play them again," B-CU head coach Brian Jenkins said.

B-CU was hoping for a home game, but after hosting two FCS playoff games in the past three seasons, the Wildcats will hit the road this time. The game is a rematch of last season's first-round playoff game in which the Chanticleers defeated B-CU 24-14 at Daytona Beach.
B-CU  finished the regular season 10-2 after defeating Florida A&M 29-10 in the Florida Classic on Saturday. The winner of Saturday's game will advance to play Montana in the second round.
"We feel good after yesterday's win, but we still didn't play a full football game. We need to correct some stuff and get better," Jenkins said. "The team feels good and we came out of the game healthy. That's always a positive."

The top eight teams received first-round byes for the tournament. The overall No. 1 seed is two-time defending champion North Dakota State.

"It'll be business as usual for us. Our guys understand what this is all about and continue to do the things we do each and every day in order to be successful," Jenkins said. "We understand there's a lot of football left to play. We got some goals accomplished this year and need to accomplish our ultimate goal now of working to win a national championship."

Any way to watch the B-C/CC game?
Only if you have a provider with ESPN3. Perhaps a stupid question (showing my age and lack of tech knowledge), but would the sports bars have a way to carry this game?

Only the ones that like to make money, '68. :)

Now, don't be mean to old people like me. It was an honest question on my part.

Not being mean - that's why I used the smiley-face. I have no idea how they do it, but I assume where there's a will (to bring in customers), there's a way.

Not that we've been able to find ... so far, other than ESPN3. However, ESPN does seem to have some sort of relationship (contract? "understanding," ... ?) with the HBCU -- Historically Black Colleges & Universities. B-C is an HBCU, so it would not surprise me if they came up with something so this game would actually show up on TV somewhere.

I guess if the bar has an ISP provider with ESPN3 they could hook a Xbox up to the TV...probably not totally legal but nobody would care.

'68 -- I have a buddy who owns a sports bar. I'm not sure of all the details, but he has package deals with providers (satellite and cable) that require him to pay a set fee based on the amount of seats in his bar. Most of his contracts are annual deals that provide full access, but he does occasionally pay a set fee (again based on his seating capacity) for individual events. So basically, a bar owner would likely have to weigh the cost/benefit analysis to decide whether or not to take the plunge and buy the rights to show the game in his/her bar -- unless it is somehow available on existing contractual feeds.

I see and have been on the CC forum but where the flip is the Bethune forum? I just see a blog page but no forum. Do they not have one?

Know a couple that own a small place (cafe and drinks). They love group deals. My guess is: At most places, if you can get enough people together to guarantee a crowd (sign up extras, 'cause some will almost certainly not show up), most places with access contracts will fall all over themselves to oblige, even if they have to make special arrangements.

Hey guys. CCU alumni/fan/season ticket holder. I am not worrying about you guys yet...until we got past BCU...if we do. We were up, I think 17 or 21 zip on BCU and they scored a few tds late. I think most CCU fans are focused on the BCU game as well. Their D scores me, but their coach gives me faith that if it's a close game late, he will do something stupid and get a penalty. I will say that going to Washington Grizzly has been on my bucket list for years, and I would like for us to win and then play you guys. I would use need to find a way to get there!

Feel free to stop by our message board. I know some of you guys have already. http://Www.coastalfans.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
