should add flacco from delaware, he did win the superbowl, after all. having said that, the most eye opening performance i saw was by armanti edwards. he was a hell of a quarterback.

Griz played Delaware once..... in 1993. Joe Flacco was 8.

ok, i must be mixing him up with some other east coast qb who the griz played in the playoffs in the late 90's or maybe 2000 or 2001. i think it was a quarterfinal or semifinal, in missoula under the espn lights, on a freezing cold night. whoever our qb was (ochs?) missed a long pass in the final moments that might have made this difference. anybody remember this?

You're thinking of the UMass playoff game (I don't remember their QB). It was Swogger on the over throw. :(

thanks for the correction! for some reason i thought that the also had a transfer qb, but maybe was thinking of swogger. if i remember right, their big running back was the guy who made the difference for them.

Steve Baylark ran for 169 yards and 2 TD's in that game... Liam Coen was the QB 234 yards No TD's and 2 INT's... Griz lost 19-17

Highly heralded Ricky Santos from UNH (OC Chip Kelly) in the 2004 playoffs took a butt-kicking from Ochs and the Griz 47-17. Santos is currently the HC at UNH.

Quite the memory Argh??!!

Delaware's big running back and Wing T in 1993. They won that one 49 - 48.......very few passes from Delaware but a huge one on their final score!

I don’t think Ricky Santos was the best QB the Griz faced, but I’ll respect your opinion that he was.

Please point out where I said he was.

Oh, I just assumed you were replying to the question posed in the thread topic. My bad if you were simply making a general comment about a game against a team that had a QB.

In 2012, ISU’s Yost had 323 yards in a 70-24 defeat in Missoula.

Wentz by the only metric that really matters, nfl, getting drafted as the second over all pick. Then there‘s the 2 national chippers, a super bowl ring, pro bowl, second team all pro etc.

Seems like a lot of different metrics.

My vote is for Vernon Adams. Wouldn't choose the guy to take a math test for me, but would have loved to see him as our QB.

When the Griz played SHSU in 2004 in the semifinal game, SHSU had a quarterback that some people thought was a good quarterback. But, that team lost. Same even goes for the first round game against NW State. Sequim, WA is in what’s known as the “rain shadow” of the US, and receives fewer than 16” of rain per year despite being located near one of the wettest temperate rainforests in the world.

Mike Reilly from d-2 central washington played in a thrilling game in Missoula.
He has had a very solid career in the cfl.

I don't think he was the best the Griz ever faced, but this thread did prompt me to go look up the name of the kid from Western Illinois who dismantled the Griz in 2003 playoffs--Russ Michna. He played great in that game and apparently went on to an NFL practice squad, CFL, and various arena league teams.

I was going to mention him too. Best playoff performance I’ve seen in person at WashGriz by an opposing QB. I thought for sure he’d make an NFL roster.

Gateway to the Olympics!

For many years, a particular broker-dealer in Montana used to run an ad (it was on the back cover of the every quarter's Montanan for years) about saving for college in a 529 Plan. The ad referenced Montana's natural beauty, which was cool. Only prob was, the gorgeous image of the mountains in the ad was taken from Hurricane Ridge, a short -- albeit windy-- drive from lovely Sequim.

Sequim also has the longest spit in the U.S., along with Hurricane Coffee Co, whose mochas will blow your socks off (yeah, it's a bad pun; so sue me).
