Best Court in the Big Sky?

i really like idaho state's surface though im not a big fan of untraditional looking courts...it is pretty cool in person. its really nice. it was installed last season.

we used to have a giant wildcat center court but it was removed for a new paint job in 2006-07 when we hired rahe.

hard see it in these pics

i have been to worthington arena (MSU), hornets nest (Sac), Dee Events Center (WSU), Holt Arena (ISU) and Reed Gym (ISU).

i can tell you there is no debate which facility needs to be upgraded the most to put it nicely in regards to our constituents in sacramento.

I have been to 5 BSC Tournaments and WSU has won 2 of them so I will stay far far away from Dahlberg.

But I do love Dahlberg's floor. The only thing I don't like is that the lettering on the baseline is reversed from any other BB floor I've ever seen. At Dahlberg, the lettering faces out toward the crowd. On every other court, the lettering faces in toward the floor. Kinda odd:

I noticed that too...but it's fixed now. :thumb:

Geez...How many games have I watched since it's been fixed and not noticed it???

If you go to Holt Arena, or is it Reed Gymnasium?..with that avatar people would think you were a Bengal instead of a Wildcat. Confused me for a while before reading anything for everytime I saw it I'm thinking Bengal.

isu does a weber white out when they host us for about the last 4 years. so i thought it was funny n bought one of the shirts, took a pic of it then made it my avatar. sorry for the confusion.

they play in both hold and reed. holt is the football dome (8,000 bball; 12,0000 fball) and reed (3,500) is their old gym. when their are conflicts they play in the reed.

ISU's women's basketball program plays in Reed, while the men's program uses Holt (unless there is a conflict, like weberwildcat stated). Reed's court was refurbished/updated in December to closely resemble the new court in Holt.

Honestly, as much as it pains me to say it, I think Idaho State has the sharpest-looking court. Their arena is terrible, but I've always liked the two-tone hardwood. Looks pretty cool.

I do like the two-tone but I don't think I am really digging the Bengal stripes in the paint.

Ugh. I hate the bengal striped keys and I absolutely hate that they have huge advertisements on the floor.

Reed Gym is (could be) actually the best home court advantage in the Big Sky. It only requires 3,500 to fill it up, its small, low ceiling. Can be very loud as I found out in 2003. Also I was told its actually high school regulation which is 10 feet shorter (can anyone confirm this?) So multiple advantages to playing there.

They do not like to play there though because 3,500 is limited compared to 8,000, parking is another issue, and Holt Arena is better for the program.

They only have those awful ads in Reed Gym. I'm talking about the men's hardwood in Holt Arena.

You may want to look again.

Was browsing and came across this thread and thought I'd post a couple of pics of the updates happening at Reese Court. The old bleachers on the lower deck have been removed and replaced with chair-back seats, and seating added behind the baskets. I think it looks pretty nice, thought it was interesting how close the stands are court-side. The old capacity was 6,000, but I imagine it might be a little more now. I think the next addition will be a new video board. As to the original post, I think it goes the Dee, Dahlberg Arena, then MSU/EWU. I haven't seen UND's or SUU's, so not sure where those would place.

Hayford's already done a good job of bringing in money to the basketball program, I think it was a great hire for EWU.

Only been to Reese Court but once but I like the idea of the ground floor access unto the level overlooking the main playing area with the balcony seating above. I think it's pretty neat the way they have that. Looks like it'll be quite easy to place a video sceen on one of the walls as well, if it's not too much of a distraction to the players in their game mode.
