John Edwards, Andrew Selle, Brady Gustafson; Billings West has produced some good QB's over the years. But according to Coach Paul Klaboe, Gutafson was the best of them in High School. (quoted on the local KTVQ2 sports tonight)
Here is to hoping Brady outperforms them as a Griz too!
Go Griz!

The Griz play with a QB? Why don't they ever throw then? I would hate to be those QB's in waiting. Hand off middle, throw back lateral left, hand off, throw back lateral right. Exciting.

As of now, its an offense that produces more yards per game and per play than the Cats O.

Exciting.

As of now, the Cats' O has produced 3 more wins THIS season than the Griz. Very exciting.

As of now, the Cats' O has struggled through what can only be described as a "powderpuff" schedule. Very Interesting........but true.

That isn't lost on me. IF that were the point he was making, I would have had NOTHING to say.

Line Gus up at either end , or Wr , and you have your 2 qb backfield. Check out U-L Monroes spread offense, as they utilize 2 qb's in their system, however both their starting qb's are very mobile....There...fixed it for you guys...Carry on. :P

....Come to think of it, if Jordy makes his way back, it wouldn't be a bad idea...

Last week the Griz averaged over 6 yards per carry. Tell me what coach wouldn't keep calling runs with that average? I think Selle is the best West High QB that has playing time with the Griz. His mechanics seemed to be better than Edwards. Time will tell about Gustafson assuming he ever gets much playing time.

NAU for one. Bauman averages over 7.5 yards per carry, and they still pass the ball down-field. No offense can be effective if it is one-dimensional like the Grizzlies. when they go against a team who can stop the run, and they will face plenty of them if they get into the playoffs, their offense will be ineffective if they can not pass the ball.

You have to do it on a situational basis. In the Eastern game, they couldn't stop the run, period, so there was no reason to risk throwing it down field. When we come up against a team that has a shot at stopping the run, then yes, we should game-plan to mix more passes in.

And let's not forget that Trent was 14-17 in that game, and looked more than capable on a high pressure drive at the end.

The offense was effective against Eastern though, so you are wrong. Also our one dimensional passing offenses with Don Read we're pretty effective. We lost because our defense couldn't make plays against a future NFLDraft pick in Kaufman. And they recovered a crazy bounce on an onside kick. Had absolutely zero, nada, nothing to do with how our offense played or play calling.

The end

Hardly the end. Just an opinion which is full of holes. Did you forget how our running game was stuffed in the second half versus NAU? They forced us to pass, and I do not have to remind you about the result. The EWU run defense was awful. If you use that game as a barometer, you will come out with an invalid conclusion. In that critical Griz possession with 6 minutes left in the 4th quarter, I noticed the EWU defense had 9 players within 3 yards of the line, just daring us to pass the ball, but betting that we would play it conservative. We got one yard on three futile carries, because we are no threat to pass, and the opponents know it. You will eat your words when we play a team which can stop the run. Our offense will then disappear.

The other thing I love is "if we wouldn't have turned the ball over so many times we'd be undefeated."

Well, you did. You turned the ball over a bunch of times. That's part of the game, and usually you don't win games when you turn it over 5 times. That's like saying "if the earth wasn't titled 23 degrees there wouldn't be four seasons in most places." Well, it is tilted 23 degrees and that's just the way it worked out.

The end.

You know, during all of those years when Hauck's teams enjoyed a huge turnover advantage, I thought to myself that there would come a time when things evened out. many turnovers are caused by opportunistic hits etc. In the past, UM always seemed to get the bounces. But things have a way of evening out over time. I think this is what we are seeing this season.
