Being the team "circled on the calendar"

Saying that the Griz are not that good is pure BS!!! This is a very talented team all around, and if not for red zone struggles this team is 3 and 0 and ranked in the top 4! Take that crap somewhere else! Everyone circles the Griz every year, and we have known this for a long time.

Take what crap? Take that fact that the Griz were 5-6 two years ago, lost badly in round 2 in WGS last year (a place which used to instill fear into the hearts of the opponent), beat a cupcake in round 1 then lost to CP three weeks ago in WGS, have a very poor road record for how many years? Hardly the stuff of legend. Teams don't circle the Griz game any more regardless of what people here think. There is a lot more parity in the league and they have to worry as much (or more) about other teams.

Both games against EWU were in Cheney in 2014...

And I wouldn't call a 7-point loss to Coastal Carolina at home in 2013 losing "badly".

I agree. My memory failed me on that one. I guess it seemed like a whole lot worse at the time. Heck it still seems bad but surely 7 points isn't that. I suppose I am still caught up in the belief that the Griz shouldn't lose at home so any loss is bad, especially when they aren't very good at winning on the road.

I think teams circle the Griz game still, but for different reasons than in the past.

The Griz used to be a contender, year in, year out for the chipper and everyone knew the Big Sky went through Missoula, so of course the Griz game was the first one you looked for.

Now a days, teams look at Montana as a good team, but nothing like you used to be (almost unbeatable in conference). The game is circled because teams love to play in front of 25k in Missoula, or if a team hosts the Griz, its typically a pretty well attended game because Griz fans travel well.

That game was a 21 point CC lead with 9 minutes left. Jordy made a game of it late though, and then CC controlled the ball on the ground for a 5 minute drive to end the game. They could have scored again had they wanted to do so. The things I remember most about that game are how freaking cold it was, and also that the Griz players refused to wear coats or sleeves or even use a heater all game while Coastal Carolina had on winter parkas and kept warm while off the field. What if it hadn't taken the Griz the entire game to warm their bodies?

No, the point was that CC dominated most of that game until the Griz rallied. The Griz never had the ball with a chance to tie, and got their asses kicked all over the field most of that game by a better team.
