Beer in the Stadium

I stopped going out to the tailgates quite a while ago, more out of laziness than anything else. And to be honest, I'm glad I did. In 2009, one of the best Griz' drives ever was the Chase Reynolds show on the opening drive of the third quarter in the famous Appy game. I doubt more than 5,000 people saw it. I'm glad I was one of them.

Honestly, I have seen a lot of points scored on the Griz when the crowd is at full throttle. I have come to the belief that the home field advantage is not as significant as in the good old days since most every team now operates with little reliance on verbal communication.

Me too. In the many years since WaGriz opened in 1986, we have never left the stadium at half time....

If I have my way there will be ice cold beer running free at the drinking fountains, popcorn will be fifty cents a box, and the Kiss Cam will be shoved up Peter Christian's hiney! (Just kidding about that last part.)
All sounds great to me ... and let's not give up on the last one.

Here's what I can't figure. Have the beer lines in the tailgate area gotten longer and slower since, say, 5-10 years ago? Back before geezer-hood stunted our ambition for long drives and we gave up our season tickets, we always went out for a brew at halftime. I do not recall having that much trouble putting away a beer (sometimes two, and sometimes a dog) and still getting back to our seats for KO. On a cold day (you remember those :) ), I might finish off my wife's beer, and still we made it. Either the beer is way slower than coming, or these kids (anyone under 40 is a kid as far as I'm concerned  ) are just wimps for drinkin'.

Agreed! Less chin music and more bottoms up! It's Coors, for Chrissake! Drink up, soldier!

1) search this site, people have always complained about this
2) 26,000 fans vs 19.000 in 2002, no new entrances or exits. Try leaving the top of NEZ (x section) when 1/2 time starts, stop at a bathroom, and get through the gate before the cannon goes off. It is a challenge.
3) homecoming and cancer games are the 2 worst for getting fans back since there are way more than normal one-off attendees who are not really there for the game.

Okay ... that's why I asked a question first. So at least part of the problem is that, despite the income from those "extra" 7000 fans, the "powers that be" haven't spent enough $$$ to handle the added load (that is, more I/O access and people to do/check handstamps, etc.). Why am I not surprised?

This whole argument is a moot point because beer is no longer enough to deal with the stress of Griz football, if someone wants to discuss "180 Proof in the Stadium" I'm listening.

I've posted it before. Problem solved:

Boy these closed practices must really be breaking the Missoulian's balls. There's five games to play and their writing about beer in the stadium? What's next, helmet colors?
I wonder if anyone will have a story on Simis this week. Or keenan curran in the wr rotation for the first time.
